RO ordered PET scan

Hi

I'm new to this but I was diagnosed with stage 1a breast cancer, no lymph node involvement, he positive, oncotype 14. I'm undergoing radiation now, and today my ro ordered a pet scan based on my planning ct. She said they saw a nodule in the middle of my chest. Told me not to worry this common and probably just the position they had me in. I was laying on my side. But of course I'm terrified. Anyone else have this happen?

    When I had my CT for radiation mapping, my RO had the pathologist look at it. Apparently, they don't normally, but since they had it, he thought they'd check. There was a spot on my liver so they did another scan with contrast. That was a week of terrified waiting. It was a benign hemangioma, something just about everybody has. But the pathologist thought he saw endometrial thickening on that scan, so more head-wrecking waiting to get a pelvic ultrasound. Turned out to be perfectly normal. Technician who did the US commented she couldn't imagine what he thought he was seeing. In short, out of an abundance of caution, the doctors check EVERYTHING! Don't worry too much, it's probably nothing. But I know how you feel. Sometimes I try to remember what was going through my mind randomly before cancer.

    Hi Zadiegirl. I know who scary this is especially since you've had a cancer diagnosis. When I met with my surgeon/oncologist the first time he ordered a bunch of tests saying he wanted to make sure nothing else was going on before surgery. They saw nodules in my lungs. Scared the crap out of me. Apparently they aren't uncommon but my doctors wanted to watch them to make sure there were no changes. Long story short … I have had CT scans with contrast every six months since they were first seen. It's been 1 1/2 years since the nodules were first seen. One more CT scan with contrast and if there is still no change they will quit scanning. You may want to ask about follow-up "just in case". Good luck to you.

    Well I got my results my chest and lungs are clear, but they referred me back to my pcp for my thyroid. Heterogeneous diffuse thyroid with asymmetry. So now I have to go for an ultrasound and possible needle biopsy. I feel like the tests and anxiety are never ending. Sigh
