hi everyone

I was just diagnosed a month ago and was looking for women my age so I came to this forum thinking “im young” but I guess that’s what got me in this situation to begin with. I didn’t go for my mammogram at 40 when I should have. I still thought I was in my late 20s. Boy was I wrong! I would love to hear from women my age going through this same thing. Just feeling a bit overwhelmed.

I was 44 with three teenagers (2 boys and 1 girl) when I was diagnosed four years ago. My biggest concern was for my kids...I didn’t want them worried about me. My attitude really set the tone for thehouse. I kept them to their routines and schedules as I most possibly could and notified their schools. What fascinated me most is that my boys did not tell or discuss my diagnosis with any of their friends. On the other hand my daughter immediately texted her entire friend group. Take one day at a time you will get through this...good luck.

I was 40 when diagnosed. 3 kids total, 1 teen, the others in elementary. My only suggestion is read these forums, ask the deep questions. Think before you decide on reconstruction (I got shoved into it for being 'young' and it was a nightmare - I'm flat and fabulous now) and breathe. I didn't do chemo, my Oncotype was a 20, so intermediate. So many factors to consider before jumping on any treatment plan.
I'm here if want to talk.

    pt,

It is unclear who you are asking questions of. This thread has been inactive for more than a year and the op has not signed in to bco for more than a year as well.

    Hi,

I am sorry, I saw the last activity and thought thread was active.

I see that you got in 2011 . I was diagnosed last year and now on Anastrazole and zoladex.

Anything that you followed in diet or anything that helped you for not having recurrence or mets

    pt,

Rather than reviving this thread and changing the topic, I’ll pm you.
