Okay, i started radiation on 3/2, just completed day 15 yesterday. Through this time my days have been fairly normal routine. Work six hours (usually from home, sometimes on site) go to radiation, and until this week, do errands on my way home. At night I have been packing, and on Saturdays take a van load of stuff to my new house. (Moving an hour and a half from where I am now)'

Since the first week I have had skin changes, swelling and bone pain in the rad area, but no fatigue. This morning the fatigue and brain fog has hit like a ton of bricks. i keep track of my temperature and am watching for other symptoms in case it is not from the rads.

Is it normal for the fatigue to hit suddenly? My husband had rads to the prostate two years ago, but he had a long course of low dose, it didn't hit him until the last week or so. I am on a shorter high dose course with boost still to come.

Thank you in advance. i hate feeling this way.

Hi Chibae. Yes, my fatigue hit suddenly, so I started leaving work early and taking naps. It's also super important to get protein during radiation treatments, so see if adjusting your diet helps at all. Wishing you the best!

The fatigue is cumulative. If you are tired, rest, take a nap. I did a lot of sleeping on the weekends and pretty much well rested come Monday. If you don't rest, you just make it worse. Your body needs that rest to fight.

Thank you both. I am resting this weekend, my husband is dealing with anything and everything that might need to get done. I will also add more protein to my diet. I have been concentrating on fiber, plus fresh fruit and veggies. Time to add in more meat and cheese.

Yup, that's what happened to me. It's cumulative and can really hit you. I remember when I first felt the fatigue I was in Target trying to bra shop on a Friday afternoon, when I was so tired I had to sit down and barely make it out of the store. Mind you, at the time otherwise healthy 38 year old!!

I only had a couple of instances of fatigue each time. It usually followed a big day. What I discovered was if you actually get off your feet for an hour or so, it’ll go away. It’s not something you can muscle your way through.
