Hi

I have Triple negative IDC. My oncologist and surgeon both recommended chemotherapy prior to surgery (mastectomy). I am stage 2, grade 3.

My treatment plan is to have Doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide every two weeks, four cycles. Followed by Taxol every 2 weeks also for four cycles.

My port is being placed Tuesday. I saw the PA of the oncology office today and she was saying that this regimen of chemo is quite difficult for people, the first four cycles in particular and she said it gets a bit easier with the cycles of taxol.

I'm starting to get very nervous about this, does anyone have any experiences to share following a similar regimen?

My treatment plan is the same as yours - I started on Jan 21st so have completed the 4 DD AC treatments and one DD Taxol. I have been taking Claritin on a daily basis and for me, it has worked and I have not had any bone pain from the Neulesta. The only side effect I got from the Neulesta was fatigue for 2 days. The AC can cause nausea - but my PA told me that they have meds that are effective against nausea. I drank gingerale when I felt queasy but other than that I felt fine. I would suggest that you read the monthly posts that are in this forum as many women have the same treatment that you and I have. It is absolutely normal to feel nervous because of the big "unknowns" regarding what side effects you may experience. I have posted my experience in both the Jan 2020 and Feb 2020. Please let me know if you have any more questions

Yes....but I got six of each, and lived to tell the tale. I am just fine now. I suspect that they will give you Neulasta to support your immune system. That makes all the difference. Good luck. BTW - this does go by quicker than you think it will. With triple negative, Grade 3, you need the heavy hitting chemo. - Claire

Hi, I also have the same treatment and started Jan 20th, so have done the 4 AC and had my first DD taxol last Thursday. I had Neulasta shots, did not take Claritin and had very little bone pain - just one evening 6 days after infusion 1, I took Tylenol, went to bed and didn’t get it again. I had the steroids the first two days after AC infusion but never took the additional meds for nausea or indigestion. I worked from home during treatment. After day 6 I really felt close to normal until the next treatment, so I found it bearable.

Now on Taxol and seeing what the first cycle is like. They did say Neulasta reacts more with the Taxol and don’t normally do it after the first taxol, but because of coronavirus they suggested I do it. Well I have been feeling the bone pain this time, and was very tired and weak This weekend. I feel I am getting better every day already though and hoping to still feel good in week 2.

Happy to answer any specifics about the treatment also
