How Long After Diagnosis

I am getting very concerned. I was supposed to see my RO for the second time today to set up radiation therapy. I got a call today saying they weren’t seeing patients due to Corona and they weren’t rescheduling at this time! Hello? This is not a haircut, it’s cancer treatment.

I was diagnosed on 12/13, had a bmx on 1/23. Stage 1, Grade 2 IDC with one micromet to node. I saw the RO a month ago and he wanted to wait a bit to see if I was doing chemo and for the incision to completely close. The next appointment was today, now cancelled with no reschedule. How can this be? Is this increasing my risk? Thankfully I did start my AI about three weeks ago

Oh no! I had my lumpectomy the same week as you and I'm supposed to start rads on Thursday. I have been worrying about getting the virus during treatment. As of last week, they said IF anyone is sick they would stop rads and restart later. But things are changing so fast.

I don't know what the answer is - maybe it's better to wait than start and stop and start again? I'm not too excited about going to the hospital every day. I have not started my AI bc they told me to wait until after rads, but I have it, so I will start it if rads are cancelled. I'll update if anything changes for me

    Hang in there.

My MO told me that AI therapy usually starts after radiation, but I asked if I could start before and he said I could. I was concerned even then about the glacial pace of this whole process. Not to mention the fact that I have TE and they can't be replaced until 6 months after radiation is over. That's minor, to me, though. My life is flashing before my eyes.

I am having similar concerns. I was dx 12/13 with stage 1 IDC grade 1 no Mets. I am scheduled for BMX for this Wednesday 3/18. So far they haven’t cancelled although I have been reading articles in wall street journal that cancer surgeries are being cancelled to save resources for corona. I also just read that the hospital is not allowing any visitors and it seems like my husband may not be able to stay with me before surgery. This is so stressful ☹️

Moxie32 I wish I had an answer. Did you speak with them about the pros and cons of starting and stopping radiation?

I have my consultation appointment with the radiation oncologist Thursday. I did have my primary care and my GI doc's appts postponed. I really hope this RO appointment isn't cancelled. I want to go forward with the treatment as planned.

Doggielover - No. Not sure if they would even have data?

My dad had surgery scheduled for a vocal chord polyp next week and that has been cancelled. He's in his 80s so good idea, but it's really making it hard for him to talk so he's bummed

Of course I am going to be more worried about recurrence if rads are delayed or stopped/restarted, but I have no control over it so I'm trying to think logically vs letting my fear take over. I'm sure a lot of the people going to rads are higher priority than I am.
