Candi normalcani (don't think work counts as a fun thing, Candi) -
Kats, I didn't know you lived in England. I also remember the dreaded roundabouts as we lived there for two years when I was in grammar school. There was one that had about ten spokes coming out of it with twenty different city names. It was crazy.
Have a great time at the get together.
Catherine -
Catherine,
We lived in England for 3 yrs in the town of Woodbridge (Suffolk, East Anglia area) which is north and east of London. We rented a row house that was built in 1765 and was one block from the River Deben. Very interesting we had no central heat or air, one coal fireplace in the sitting room none in any of the bedrooms (they had been boarded over). Our place had been recently equipped with indoor plumbing. Our eldery neighbor had no hot water heater and still had the restroom facilities in an outdoor building in her back garden YIKES!!!
We really need to go together to one of these MI gatherings.
Mary -
Its official, I cant go. My kids are coming home from Florida and I am going to spend some time with them. How often do you guys have get togethers? I really hope I can attend the next one. Have fun.
Jackie -
Jackie,
Have fun spending time with your kids this weekend.
I know there is talk about getting together as a Team again & doing the Komen Race for the Cure in Detroit on June 16th. NotMe and her DH did the 5k run, most of us did the 5k walk (3.1 miles), there's also a trolley survivors can ride (2 members of the Team did that). Something to think about.
Mary -
Mary,
I did the Grand Rapids 5k walk last year. I couldn't do the run as I was also doing rads at the time and was very tired all the time. but it would be fun to do one with all the women on this site. I hope they keep us posted.
Jackie -
Bummer! I really wanted to meet Tina!
-
Hi,
I am coming to the lunch! I feel a little better so my daughter is going to drive me there. I just am a little weak and I have shortness of breath but I am coming! I need to get the heck out of my house. I can't wait to meet everyone. I am glad I came upon this thread in time.
Trish -
Hi all,
Bob, Alexandra & I made the drive up to Brighton today. We're staying at the Holiday Inn Express right next door to the Lone Star restaurant.
Was happy to find they have free internet access.
See you guys tomorrow.
(typing without my glasses so excuse any typos)
Mary -
Glad you are coming Trish! Will see everyone tomorrow!
Denise -
See you all tomorrow!

Hi Everyone - I am Trish's sister, Sue. We had to take Trish to the hospital today - very weak and on the verge of pneumonia. They are keeping her to see how she is doing in the morning. She has asthma so she was really struggling. She is SO disappointed that she can't make the lunch. She was looking forward to meeting everyone. I just left the hospital at 10:30 and she was feeling a little better. She'll message all of you when she get's home! Thanks. Sue
-
Will be keeping Trish in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery! So sorry she won't be able to come.
Well, I have decided to make the trip. It is a bit foggy here this morning but looks like it is going to be a nice day. Can't wait to meet you all! Safe traveling everyone.
Fran -
I'm sorry (mostly for me as I've been looking forward to this get together since Irene offered me a ride). I picked up an infection (at physical therapy, no less!) & do not want to spread it to anyone else. We've all been through enough. I just hope it doesn't spread to the area of my brand new knee. I've been looking forward to seeing you all forever, but I have so many other things to be grateful for that I can't complain. Have a great time ladies!
Ann -
Trish and Anna,
Just get well soon. We will plan another gathering when you are better.
Looking forward to today!

Nancy -
Trish and Anna,
Hopes for a speedy recovery to you both. Sue (Trish's Sister) Thank you for letting us know about Trish....we all have a habit of worrying when we don't hear from someone!
Hugs,
Denise -
Hi - it's Sue again. Glad you got the post before all of you met. I just wanted to give all of you an update. Trish is still in the hospital, and she will be there for a couple of days. Still no energy, still on oxygen and still getting breathing treatments and IV meds. They are going to bring in an infectious disease doctor to see if they can pinpoint what is going on. I'm pretty worried about her. She has her scans on Monday so she will be there at least until then. I'm sure she'll want me to keep you posted. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers! Sue
-
Sue,
Thank you for the update on Trish. She is definitely in my prayers and thoughts. Keep in touch.
Hugs,
Denise -
Hi Michiganders!
Just a quick note to let you all know how much I enjoyed today! It was so nice to meet so many of you and the company was great...you'd have thought we'd known each other for ever!
Can't wait for the next luncheon!
Hugs,
Denise -
It was truly awesome. Such fun to meet the faces that match the names. Whoever took pictures be sure to post them somewhere. It's fun to see them.

Had a great time as usual. It was great to see/meet everyone, although we missed those who couldn't come.
Here a couple of photos.

Gerri - please let me know your other friend's name. I didn't get a chance to meet her. -
So sorry to have missed the luncheon...it was not in my cards to make it I guess. Some of you might recall that my MIL is sick...so our daughters came into town at the last minute...in order to celebrate my MIL's 70th. Between a late arriving flight and the trafiic jam on 23...well I did not make it. It looks like you all had a great time though!
-
We will all be crossing everything for Trish. Thanks for the update Sue.
Anna - I hope your doing better soon. Just take care of that knee!
Not Me & 3Bears, Jackie, Tonya, Candi, LuckyAnna, Molly, Tina, Shel38, Catherine - ALL our friends close by - So sorry you missed it but you know that just gives us an excuse to set up another gathering.
I have gone to the Chicago gathering and all but one of the Michigan get-togethers and I always come back feeling energized and hopeful. I don't know how to explain it but I AM a shy person and 4 years ago I wouldn't dream of meeting a group of strangers for lunch. But, once you get there, you can feel the kinship and you feel like old girlfriend's I've known for years.
Geri, wish I could have talked to your friends. Did I hear correctly that one is a 10 year survivor? Whoohoo! I hope they come on the website and find the support that we get.
Denise - love you humor and you had me in stitches about the ultrasound story. You are the first person I've run into (besides my DH) who has the same Onc and Radiation Onc. I'm glad you like the Onc also.
Fran - So nice to meet you in person after we have talked offline! You are just as sweet in person.
ArmyNavyMom - See what I mean about feeling like old friends? I would never touch a stranger to peek under her hat. Your hair is coming in nicely and in person I swear you look about 30 years old! Did you have those boys when you were a baby?
Julie - Love the hair. You need to tell everyone your tricks to have it come in so gracefully and natural looking.
Sue - We have to get a round table next time. I missed talking to you and getting to know you!
Irene, Geri, Pat, Mary, Kay - I feel like we've been sisters for years and get a kick out of how much we have in common. Irene & Mary - We all have that 'talking on the phone thing'. I thought I was the only one. Kay, didn't get to talk as much this time but was so glad to hear your DH is doing better! Pat, you have such a warm aura - I'm not all into that new age stuff but you always have something that makes people feel comfortable at once. Those are some beautiful grandbabies.
Geri, we have parallel things happening and I appreciate all your support through email. You have been very helpful.
Mary - I am so glad you got Bob to bring you to this one because, even though we don't talk on the phone, I think we talk almost every day through email and I feel like I've known you for years! Maybe we should plan the next gathering in Frankenmuth so you guys have something fun to do for a few days. I think we have so many ladies coming from the North that it wouldn't be so bad if we plan it in advance!
Janis - The scrapbook was gorgeous. You, Kats & Irene should open up a graphic arts business together. It was nice to meet you in person. I'm glad you made the drive.
I thought I was able to hide my face behind Pat in the first picture but you sure got a good pic of my shiner in the second one, Irene!
Those of you who do not have my email address, please pm me for it. Especially if you change your sign-on name. I don't want to lose you!
I hope I didn't miss anyone. I will start the Komen team today. 89% of the vote as of today is for "Wings of Hope". So, that is the name I'll use. Give me a few hours and I'll come back and give you the link and details. If you want, we can plan another get-together before the race and Irene said she would help me pack up the t-shirts again this year. So, we can bring them to the gathering if it is right after the pick-up date.

I set up our team - Wings of Hope

If you need help walking through this, please let me know. -
I so wish I could have have been there yesterday! The pictures are great. I'm praying for Trish. My problems are not nearly as serious. I am determined to come to the next get-together whether ti is the Komen Race4 or a luncheon. I will simply become a hermit for a week before the luncheon or race. The problem seems to be that my immune system has never recovered form chemo, MRSA, C-Dif, etc. When I pick up an infection &have to have an antibiotic, that starts the C Dif in my intestines so I have to take another antbiotic for that, but it doesn't always work. Right now I keep setting alarmys so that I take the right medicines and supplements at the right times since some of them are incompatible with others. Such fun! I think I should get some sort of medical award just for keeping this stuff reasonably straight. I may end up riding the trolley again this year. Is anyone else going to do that?

Thanks! I'm in. Let's go, ladies! Get those cards and letters flowing in! VBG -
Are we going to dress in purple and pink? Ummmm--wear butterfly wings? We need something to make a splash, here. And we need a body count for team members. Are we up to 5 yet? VBG
-
Anybody got a Wings graphic they like better than these?
I'd like the Flying Heart better if it had a pink center, maybe? -
Hi ladies,
Made it back home about 2:30 CT. The drive to MI for the get together was definately worth it.
It was nice to meet Denise, Julie, Sue, Anne, Janis, Fran, Gerri and Gerri's friends. With us all sitting at a long table it was hard to be able to chat with everyone in the group . Kay it was nice to see you again and happy to hear your DH has gained some weight and doing better.
Janis, your scrapbook is beautiful, thanks for sharing it with us. You're very good at spiral journaling.
Nancy, Pat and Irene it was great to sit, chat & reconnect with you ladies. It felt like I've known you ladies for a long time.
The pic the waiter took with my camera is blurry. I knew I should have asked him to take a second pic.
Denise, you are a real character, you kept our end of the table very lively. Here's the pic I took by mistake when I was trying to show Nancy the zoom on my camera.
What's with my head in that pic of me, Nancy & Pat. It looks huge. Tell me, does my head really that huge in person?............YIKES!!!
I'm gonna blame the half asleep look on my face in the group pic on going from central time to eastern time, I really did have a good time, really I did.
Nancy, I knew you were trying to hind behind Pat....nice try
Nancy and Irene...Bob sends a Hi to you guys too.
Thanks again for letting an Illinoian be a Michigander for a day
Mary -
Michigan Ladies!!! It was a wonderful warm day, at it felt like we had known each other for ages. I spent most of the lunch talking to Fran, Anne, Geri, Sue (her friend) and Julie...I can't believe at 2 years I learned some new stuff about BC!! oy!
Thank you for all the nice compliments on my scrapbook. You know how I love showing off my boys.
Julie, tell your friend Sue I enjoyed meeting her too!
Janis
