Started treatment but now...
Hi all
So started chemo and immunotherapy and had no aches before. But now I have aches in same areas where my bone mets are? Praying that means it’s working, and not meaning it’s spreading? Anyone else experience this then found out treatment did indeed work? Looking for positive stories. Struggling today. Thanks all so much. An amazing helpful group. Thankful for everyone who has taken time to reply to my posts (((hugs))

My initial therapy was Taxol and Herceptin so maybe different from what you are receiving. But I can share that, from the first infusion, I had intense stabbing pain in my breast while I was still sitting in the chair with the IV in - and later when I went home, I had pain in both my breast and pelvic area where one of the mets was located. This occurred during the first few infusions. When I asked my doctor, she nodded and said other women had reported the same. I had a good outcome, so I would say the pain was from the tumor cells being "zapped" by the meds and dying off. I had never had bone pain prior to diagnosis so....
Hopefully, it will be the same for you.

Olma61 thank you so much. I’ve been so worried this helps give me some peace of mind

dlittkemann, tumor flare is a real phenomenon. I've never experienced it myself, but there is some literature on it.
Tumor flare is when the tumor grows as you start therapy then dies off. Usually accompanied by increased bone pain.

I second Pajm. When I started Fas in 2015 my pain increased as it started working and brought me to NEAD. Conversely, I have yet to notice more pain when I have had progression. Don't despair.

me too, when I started Ibrance-Femara I had worrisome sharp new pains in my shoulder and hip, right where some of the largest tumors were. But they eventually went away completely..

I came back to this post because the new aches do scare me. These comments help me so much. Thank you all again. I coughed with a cold I had and felt a pain, and feels like a pinched nerve. Heating pad helps. Hope it’s not a bad sign. Pray this treatment works 🙏🙏🙏

I can tell you that we figured where one of my random pains was coming from. My liver was swollen! They gave me steroids to lower the inflammation and lo! the pain that I thought was from my ribs was gone.
So sometimes the cause isn't the cause. I hope yours start feeling better soon.
