Looking for a good surgeon in Tampa Bay area

Hi, I'm already at Moffitt but want to consider getting a second opinion from a surgeon (and pathologist) somewhere else, preferably somewhere between Tampa and Sarasota, and also someone who can get me in relatively quickly. Would rather get names here from women who have had first-hand experience than just try to randomly pick someone. Thanks!

    Can you share if you liked Moffitt or not? I am searching for a good surgeon as well as I was just diagnosed too. Dr. Kathleen Allen

    comes highly recommended for a breast surgeon. She is in Clearwater.

    Thanks, Noone10. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. My original surgery in 2006 was done in Atlanta, but the chemo, radiation, follow-up back then and everything this time around is from Moffitt. The pathologist who read my mammogram and did the ultrasound in December was wonderful -- changed her schedule around so she could follow me thru to the biopsy. The nurses who assisted and the ones in the surgical area were great too. I like my surgeon, but think it's always good to get a 2nd opinion. Here's the warning: The nurse practitioners and surgical fellows are worthless -- I've never had an NP whose opinion the doctor agreed with, and a surgical fellow who saw me the other day had a totally different take on things than the surgeon who came in a few minutes later. One other warning: In the past -- and I don't know if this is still true -- the breast program was very hard to get into. Again, don't know if that's still the case, so it's worth trying. Good luck.

    Dr Allen is my BSs surgical practice partner. Peter Blumenkrantz. He did both my surgeries, have heard good things about her. Have been very pleased with everything at Morton Plant. I’m in Dunedin. PM me if you’d like.
