Terrified
Hello everyone. I am new and I am so scared. I recently in the last two weeks found a hard area, I would not call it a lump, in one of my breast. I’m 49 and I have never had a mmg. I’m going to call my dr Monday and get an RX for one.
The area in my breast is hard but it’s kinda all over my breast. And it has little knots on the surface of the hard area. I don’t know how much I can share but I am so scared. I’m trying so hard not to think about it. But I am on the verge of tears a lot of the time.
I know there is someone on here that can relate. I hope I’m not the only one afraid.
Can anyone give me your experience? Or
By what I’m saying give a little reassurance?

Dear LoverofJesus,
Welcome to the BCO community. We are sorry that these breast changes and the worry that they bring are causing you anxiety. Most of our members will say that these initial days of finding something different and then waiting for some answers are the most harrowing. You have taken the right steps by deciding to call your doctor to schedule a mammogram and reaching out for reassurance. Weekends are tough because typically it is more difficult to contact medical providers. Try not to jump to the conclusion that this is cancer. Try not to self diagnose your symptoms and spend lots of time on the internet if such creates more anxiety for you. Distraction from your thoughts and worries can be helpful. Keep us posted on how things go and what you learn over the next few days. We are sure others will jump i here to support you as well. Let us know if there is anything we can do to be a help.

Thank you! I would appreciate anyone’s thoughts. Yes I searched the web and I know that was a bad idea. I am so scared. I think if it were both breast I would not be as afraid but with it being just one basically it frightens me.

Welcome loverofJesus,
I am sorry you are here. Getting in to be checked is the best step to take at this point. If you can get a 3D mamogram I know they can be better if you have dense tissues. I know my breast center offers both.
This site is reliable but doing web searches can just drive you crazy.
My breast cancer will have it read right away if you ask up-front or for people like me, who have been diagnosed in the past. We sit in another room while they read it and then they give me results right away before I leave. I don't know if that option is available where you live or not.
Try to relax until you can call on Monday and get in. Best wishes for you!

Thank you for responding. Also, I failed to mention that both breast feel lumpy just one breast is harder and the all the lumps are a little bigger than in the other.
I know I am not looking for a dx on here. I just want anyone that can to give me their experience with something similar.

Hi there...! I am so sorry how you are feeling. To make it short and brief, at 49-50 years young, you should be getting Mammograms. At least, once a year. I do know your scared. That's normal. You do need to call your doctor soon, and have him order you a Mammo. He may want to see you first. It sounds like Cysts or Calcium Deposits in your Breast, which are benign. I have a number of Oil Cysts in my right breast. Every once in a while they tickle or itch underneath the skin. Try not to worry. I do understand your feelings for surely. Just call your doctor asap. You be fine honey. Blessings!🌸🕊
