Just had biopsy....questions

hello. My ultrasound said birads 4, suspicious. There is an oval hypoechoic mass w in distinct margins measuring6x5x3mm.

That is why I had biopsy today.

Can someone please help me understand the report from ultrasound?

They said growth is very small oval so am I safe to believe it is not cancerous? Or at least early stage

    There is a topic here for asking for help with reports.

    Generally though 4 means that they are biopsy-ing to rule cancer out, rather than rule it in. As in, they think it's not likely that it's breast cancer, but they can't rule it out without the biopsy. So if they can't rule it out, we can't either. But the odds are still very much with you.

    Sorry you are having to play the waiting game. Biopsies can be a scary experience. However, masses with irregular shapes/indistinct/spiculated margins have a higher likelihood of malignancy. I would be hopeful that your mass has distinct margins. I will pray for you and I would suggest, as hard as it might be, to focus on other things. Enjoy your quiet moments and simple pleasures for the few days to a week it might take to get your results. hugs!

    dysonsphere, I think she said the margins are indistinct, she just put the "in" with a space before the distinct.
