How consistent was your infusion day for Taxol?
Hello everyone!
For those who received weekly Taxol -- I just started my weekly Taxol. (Age 33, dx left breast, cT3N1, IDC, ER+, PR+, HER2-, Grade 2). I am working almost full time during Taxol. My first four treatments are scheduled on a different day every week .. getting earlier and earlier.. (I jump from Friday to Tuesday over four weeks). This is manageable, but not super ideal, because I have regular work meetings certain days and I hoped that my treatment would occur on the same day. I did start on a Friday and asked my scheduler to be kept on Thursdays and Fridays... she said it would be no problem. I had to move and go through a lot of stuff to get started with treatment and I was looking forward to having some sort of predictably and routine again... I also worry if it's really good to concentrate the treatments earlier and earlier? I'm basically concentrating the dose of the drug I get over the next month systematically toward a higher concentration... (and vice versa..it seems like you wouldn't want to stretch it backwards by a day for a month, either... has that really been tested and shown to be safe?!)
I emailed my scheduler to figure out what's going on, so I'll ask her, but I was curious for some perspective from the webs:
-Did you get to do your Taxol generally on the same day, or always on a different day?
-Did you ever get your Taxol pushed back further and further or scheduled sooner and sooner?
I'll see what my scheduler says ... and ask my oncologist, too... I'm just trying to figure out if I'm definitely making a big deal out of nothing... and I don't totally trust my scheduler.
Thank you!!

I had my Taxol the same day every week for 12 weeks. They were pretty accommodating to my work schedule.
Good luck!

I had all my infusions on the same day every week. Picked Thursdays and felt pretty good Fridays, then took the weekend to recoup. It's your money and your cancer - see how far you can get demanding, or get your MO to intervene.

I hate to say it but I don't think I've heard of anyone who *didn't* get their Taxol the same day every week. This just sounds weird. (FWIW I chose Fridays--knew I'd feel pretty good the first few days due to the steroid and wanted to enjoy my weekends. I'd start to droop a little late Sunday but was bouncing back by Tuesday.)

I'm currently getting weekly Taxol, and I was able to select which day I wanted (Fridays). However, I need to miss one upcoming Friday so they are accommodating me and pushing my treatment to the following Monday. My MO says I don't need to push all my subsequent treatments (pending blood counts), so I'll be getting 2 cycles within 5 days - Monday and Friday. I think it's rare to get them closer together than a week, but not necessarily unsafe if you're being closely monitored.
That said, if you want your treatments on a particular day, I would really push for what works best for you!
