Biopsy Infected

Good morning,

I had a biopsy done (core needle) last Monday due to an architectural distortion on my first mammogram (I'm 40) and subsequent ultrasounds. The biopsy went fine and I felt pretty good a day afterwards. Two days ago I started feeling pain in that area of my breast, that then got worse yesterday. I don't have swelling, a fever, or any other symptoms beyond pain. It feels like mastitis - I haven't had a nursing child in 7 years, but that's the best way I can think to describe it.

Saw my physician and he put me on Doxycycline for the next 7 days. I am taking Advil but that isn't helping much. Has anyone had this happen before? How long did it take for you to feel better?

My biopsy results were benign, but they did find a complex sclerosing lesion that they said will need to be removed in the coming weeks. I see my surgeon for a consult this coming Tuesday. I am hoping and praying it isn't cancer.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I don’t really have anything helpful to add, but I had a core needle biopsy on Wednesday and I think it’s infected as well. It’s slightly warm to the touch and pink. I also thought it felt like mastitis. And I haven’t nursed a child in 26 years. Lol. I guess you never forget that feeling. Lol. No chills or fever yet though.

Oh no! I am sorry! It's a terrible feeling, right? I am finally feeling better with 6 days of Doxy in me. Hope you are okay!
