Biopsy results were supposed to be in today
I found a lump in my left breast last Friday. I saw my doctor on Tuesday, had a mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsies of my breast and lymph nodes on Wednesday. They thought they’d have results today, but no phone call so I probably won’t hear until Monday. I did see the mammogram report today, via my online records. It was BIRAD 5 with a 3cm mass in my left breast highly suspicious for malignancy, as well as enlarged lymph nodes under my arm, also highly suspicious. My paternal grandmother died of breast cancer and my maternal aunt is a breast cancer survivor. To be honest, I know the results without the call. I’m just anxious to know the staging and make a plan.
Also, did anyone get an infection from the biopsy? My breast is still very sore and the tissue around the incision site is slightly warm and pink

Hi AuthorSpot! We're so sorry you're going through this, we know it's incredibly difficult. And we know the waiting is so hard! We completely understand just wanting to know so you can make a plan. Hopefully you get your results Monday. But in the meantime, we definitely suggest reaching out to the doctor who performed your biopsy, perhaps speaking with their on-call nurse over the weekend, and letting them know about the possible infection. Best to have that addressed ASAP! Please keep us posted on what you find out, we're all here for you.

Hello
I am so sorry you found yourself here, but I am glad you found us.
I had the same experience, I knew before they gave me the results. I was birads 5. This is the absolute worst time, just being in limbo. I wouldn't dare try to guess your staging at this point. So many factors go into that. As the Mods stated, you should call the doctor's service and speak with the on call nurse if you think it may be infected. I had bad swelling and bruising from my biopsy so those things are not uncommon.
Do try and keep yourself from googling. It can be a great resource of information and disinformation. Most people on this site are a much better source so I encourage you to ask your questions here. There are some who are extremely knowledgeable and can be of comfort and strength.
Please keep us updated on your journey. If I can be of any help, please reach out. You can DM if you like.

Thank you, Mods. I still have no fever or chills, so I think it's just irritated, not infected. I've continued with the ice packs as they seem to help.
Valentine214- We share the same name! I mine's "cey" though. I haven't done a bunch of Googling, mostly I've only read articles on this site, browsed the boards, and read some stories. Thank you so much for reaching out. It's just hard keeping it to myself. We decided not to tell our adult children, my parents, or our friends until we had a firmer idea of what we were up against. So the only family who knows is my sister, who's kept me laughing throughout, and two of my closest friends. But we are a tight-knit, open family, so it's hard talking on the phone to everyone and keeping something from them, even if it's for their protection. I would be pissed if they did that to me! But, it's only another few days, hopefully. I will definitely keep you updated.
