Conflicting reports

I had a mammogram and a ultrasound done two weeks ago. There was a mix up and girl that did my mammogram put the last name of another Susan that was there on my pictures. I was kind of freaked out about, but they said they corrected it. The doctor called me with the results. My mammogram came back as no findings, but the ultrasound said left breast hypoechoic lobulated lesion in the retroareolar region and a ultrasound biopsy is recommended. I told my doctor about the mix up and she said before sending you for a biopsy just get the whole thing re done. I had it re done yesterday. The girl that did my ultrasound seemed like she was quick and stop and freeze a lot of pictures. I read the report on my portal last night and it said no findings on ultrasound. So, I’m confused over which report to believe. The first report had measurements of it. Can a lesion just disappear or if it’s a clogged duct just became unclogged? I just feel like I don’t want to look for trouble, but I don’t want to miss something.

As if all this is not stressful enough!! I am so sorry that this happened to you and completely understand your discomfort w these findings. I think meeting w the doc and discussing this is in order. You need clarification so you don’t keep questioning and making yourself even more anxious. Mammogram can miss things but ultrasound is less likely. I hope you get some clear answers soon.

Did they issue a corrected report and give you a new recommendation? Did the radiologist come into the US room during either of these exams? The rad should have been there for the second exam to let you know directly which exam could be depended on.

I would call your doc and tell them what happened and that you are in limbo with what to do.

Personally I would have your doc arrange for you to go back and request to have it scanned again as a "tie breaker" at no charge either by the rad or with the rad in the room and then never go back to that center. If they want your doc to continue to refer patients they should comply. You might also consider writing a letter of complaint to the administration of that center / hospital. This is not acceptable.

The woman that did my second mammogram kept arguing with me in Spanish “Why are you here? I don’t understand. You just had a mammogram two weeks ago”. And then she says “You’re paying for this”. She didn’t understand and I felt like saying to her that her job is to just follow the script orders other than that it’s not her business. My doctor hasn’t called me back, but I made an appointment with my obgyn so she might have good advice on what to do
