Hi can anyone tell me how to narrow down and sort through the trials that Cancer Institue sent me (that I matched up with)..... I am finding it very overwhelming.

Thanks,

Nicole

Hi Nicole, there are a couple of ways of doing this, but in the end you'll have to do some slogging.

You can decide on some criteria for yourself. Does it need to be close to you? Or are you willing to travel? What are the requirements for the trial? Do you need to go every three weeks? Or would the trial require spending days and days at the cancer center? Do you care about that?

Next, a bunch of the trials will be for hormonal therapy and a bunch for chemotherapy. If you're still in the 'hormonal therapy' space, dump all the chemo trials for the moment. Also, since you're HER2-, delete anything which mentions HER2+ in the title. [yes there aren't supposed to be any but there will be]

Now you're down from 100 to 30. LOL.

You'll have to look at the enrollment criteria for each trial. That's the slog. See if you are eligible. Or rather not ineligible.

Now you're down to 10 (you hope). Time for the science or to discuss with your MO.

I'm a little medicated at the moment so I hope this makes some sense.

Thanks Pajim....they were already all sorted to my HER2 status..and I am no longer on Hormone Therapy... I did already eliminate ones that are too far...Actually they did that for me... there are not a 100...maybe 20 or so...

    Thanks again. :)

    Nicole,

Another thought is to see if you can figure out if anyone on BCO is or was on a trial -- try searching the NCT numbers and the names of the trials (if they are named) through the search function on BCO and see if anything pops up. It may not work, but it's worth a try.

I thought I replied but it either disappeared or I posted my reply somewhere in a different thread....

My suggestion is to consider what phase trials you're comfortable with. If you don't want to do Phase I that might eliminate some.

I'm meeting with my team to discuss and probably sign consent forms for a phase III

    Nicole,

Are you her2- by fsh? If you are, you probably have a low expression of her2. I know they are testing some her2 drugs on us low her2 women. The Destiny trial is one that comes to mind.

search for destiny-breast04. The drug is trastuzumab deruxtecan versus the physicians choice. It's a random draw, so if you don't get the trail drug you would get one of the standard drugs listed.

About to start Destiny 3 trial. Do any members have any experiences with this trial please?
