Hello Beautiful Community,

Anyone experienced and or experiencing side effects; Heart and or Lung issues post chemo drugs; Adrymacin, Cytoxin or Herceptin?

I also had Taxotere, but havent read anything about issues related to Heart/Lung with that.

I am almost 11 years post end of treatments, and currently in my fourth week of tests for some issues that are Lung and Heart related that seem to be new for me.

Peace and Blessings,

AllOne - I hope your docs monitored your heart all through treatment. Herceptin often causes problems but they usually resolve after the drug is finished. I had Echos all along the way. Adriamycin can also cause heart issues and they are more permanent. That why the two aren't given together. Both are a good reason for frequent & continued testing and having a heart specialist on board. As far as i know, Taxotere doesn't directly effect the heart.

As for lungs, did you have radiation? That can cause lung issues. I made sure to see a pulmonologist after chemo, again after rads, and again 3 years down the road. The "ground glass opacity" in my lungs has resolved.

Hope all your testing goes well.

yes sweetie I did and do have heart and lung issues But I'm a 26yr Survivor this yr Praise God so you can get thru it. I started having breathing issue while walking after treatment I returned to work after 6mo leave of absence. My cousin who had asthma told me check with my doc I had same symptoms as she. Then a few days later could hardly walk to back of clinic I worked at in Peds went to nurse station with breathing issue told to go E R. I did indeed have asthma. Got meds. Then after many ER trips by Fiance doctor told me I have to stay . Test showed CHF Cogestive heart failure then received pacemaker 2007. Then 2009 removed and ICD implanted for heart arrymia. But since then no problems Praise God doing great No episodes most people don't believe me when tell them that's how great I'm doing.Remember a 26yr Survivor this yr.🙏msphil idc stage2 0/3 nodes 3mo chemo(cytoxin adriamycin 5fu)before and after Lmast got married were planning at diagnosis then 7wks rads and 5yrs on Tamoxifen.
