Intense knee pain when trying to jog/run?

Hi there,

I know that many users have experienced joint pain on AIs, and I've read through a lot of those posts so I know what I'm experiencing is nothing new or unusual. I've only been on Exemestane two months, and just started trying to jog again after months of not doing so. I haven't really had too much trouble with joint pain in general, just some achiness after sitting. When I try to jog, however, I immediately have intense pain in the knees, so much so that I feel like they are going to just collapse. If I continue, I bring my pace way down. It gets a little better but does not go away. I can't imagine running like this at all. I have my first bone density scan next month, so maybe I'll find something else out about this, but for now I'm assuming it's from the AIs.

Has anyone else had this, and it got better? Or do I need to look into buying a bike?!

I just purchased a rebounder. Look into it. It is supposed to be wonderful for our lymph system & less stress on our body. I have to hold my expanders while I bounce or jog but it is a small price to pay. I can go for about 15 mins at a time before my arms get to tired. I rest for 10-15 mins & do it again. I love it!

Candilea- Ohhhh, but you just had your ovaries removed too! I had an ooph and was placed on Arimidex and the joint pain and snapping joints was off the charts.

I tried Glucosomine, Turmeric, acupuncture, and CBD! I felt all gave me some relief but CBD far and away gave me the best relief.

Hope you find something to help so you can keep moving! I definitely stay away from high impact activities; hit the bike until you can find a solution!

    Best wishes!!

I have chronic knee pain and do ok with Leslie Sansone DVDs. It's basically walking with arm movements, but can get your heart rate up.

CBK--yes, the popping joints! How could I forget to mention that? I feel like, I went into that ooph surgery looking like my normal self, and came out a few hours later a dry, poppity husk of a woman!

Good tips and suggestions from all of you, thank you. It's so good to be able to reach out to others who know *exactly* what you're going through.

    Candilea-

Bahahaha!!!! Great description, I may borrow that line sometime soon.

Yoga class early on was particularly embarrassing with the snap, crackle POP! But I will tell you that got better with time. Not that I don’t still snap, crackle, and POP, but it isn’t as bad. I do a lot of weightlifting, so I hope my upcoming DEXA scan looks ok.

Hang tough and if you need any other help getting thru the ooph, know I’m here for you!

Your DEXA won’t show your knees. Could be something else going on, best to see PCP or an orthopedist.
