Dimpling of breast tissue post surgical biopsy

I had a surgical breast biopsy for clustered amorphous micro calcifications that they were unable to perform a static biopsy on. Benign results, yay! The report did also say there were numerous microcalcifications with a dilated point of foci but no sign of atypia or malignancy. The surgeon had commented the location was “very deep" - I don't think that matters? This was eight weeks ago. Healing went well. Just in the last few days though, I've noticed a slight dimpling above the incision sight scar. It wasn't there before. Maybe as time has passed, the tissue has just settled and no it looks different? I know this can be a bad sign too though, can't it? Is it likely due to healing or should should I have it checked out?

    I’d be inclined to believe it is just post surgical changes.

    Thanks Melissa! That’s what I’m thinking. I have a follow up mammogram in four months (six months from the biopsy) anyways. Just want to be sure I’m not being unwise in assuming so.

    They take pretty good sized chunks out of you. It takes quite a while to settle out. At eight weeks the swelling and maybe some fluid accumulation are probably just resolving

    I had a surgical biopsy and ductal excision in October (also benign results!!). At about 8 weeks for me also I had a bit of dimpling/pulling look near the surgical site. I had been told this would likely happen at my post op appointment due to the decrease in swelling and the healing process. I was encouraged to gently massage the area as long as it was not painful. I was told this could help move fluids and break up any scar tissue adhesions. I did that and a few times there was a bit of a popping feeling from the scar tissue, but the dimpling went away. My nipple still does not move like it used to and is a bit more "fixed" in place, but my doctor stated that is also post surgical changes.

    But if you are concerned it is always ok to call and leave a message about it for your surgeon or their nurse. They are often able to answer these questions over the phone, and relieve your worry :)

    Thank you! That is the reassurance and information I was hoping for. And I appreciate the tip to rub it. I had a different surgery elsewhere long agoand the rubbing did make a big difference in healing, I’d forgotten that until you said it!
