TC chemo for a male....will I become infertile?

So a month ago I had a mastectomy - and one lymph node was positive for Invasive Ductal Carcinoma - it was a lymphnode in the breast tissue. My cancer is EP+, Her2- grade 2 and stage 2b. The tumor was 5cm and out of 6 lymphnodes only 1 was positive.

I am to start treatment on the 14th of February 4 sessions of TC Chemo once every 3 weeks. My port will be put on on the 13th.

I know I will lose my hair - not that big of a deal for me. The one major concern is will I lose the ability to have kids after treatment? I have no children....and while I don't see myself having children in my lifetime...I do not want that choice taken away from me.

I am 32 years old and male. Also .... what affects can there be? I know everyone reacts different to chemo...but I already had 2 weeks off of work...I really don't want to miss anymore.

Thanks

I have no idea about fertility, sorry, but for missing work I only missed my treatment days. But I have a desk job and was able to telework for treatment week.

I had chemo on Tuesdays and I felt awful on Thursday, after the Neulasta shot kicked in. I felt bad on Fri too. I went back to my regular activities on Sat and Sun, but I was exhausted. I had chemo in the summer, and the sun and heat wiped me out.

voncloft, we haven't found any information on our main site on chemo and male infertility, but take a look at the following article, you may find it interesting: Chemotherapy for Male Breast Cancer

Hope this helps! Good luck with chemo. And please, come back to let us know how you're doing!

I found TC to be very doable and was surprised that I didn’t feel worse. I had infusion on Friday and took that day off. I had planned to take Monday’s off too but generally felt good enough to go in. You might want to try icing to prevent neuropathy and nail loss. Biggest side effect for me was constipation, achy joints, fatigue and I had thrush after every treatment. Food just doesn’t taste good. I never threw up but had meds there just in case. Best of luck to you.
