Can’t believe how long this crap has lasted. Still the same. Feel miserable. Eating cause I have to. Drinking cause I have to.
Woke up at 145 am this morning and started the frequent trips to the restroom. Ahhhh
Missing a lot of work. Makes me feel like I am letting so many people down.
Wish I had better news to report. Definitely feel like a sick cancer patient.

Sorry to hear this, DodgersGirl. Disappointing people? Please...don't put that stress on yourself. You deserve to focus on and take care of yourself first. I know that job responsibilities can be stressful but those folks and their needs just cannot be your top priority right now. Do what you need to do to keep the job and insurance, yes, but also do what you can to make things easier for yourself with work. I don't know what that means for your particular job, but maybe a close co-worker can help you think of something? We all need a bit a grace in this lifetime. So, I hope that you will find a way to get some help, regarding work. Will pray for you to get relief as soon as possible!
-
dodgers- Sorry to hear things aren’t improving yet. I agree with scrafgal- it’s like the oxygen mask on an airplane- you have to put yours on first before assisting others. Wishing fast relief for you this week!
-
How's it going, DodgersGirl. Any better with the gastric issues?
-
Scrafgal— no real changes. Did a 2nd stool test today. Had meds changed yesterday afternoon. Waiting to see if things change
-
Oh Dodge, I am so sorry to hear this. I hear it in your words. How heavy and tired even your fingers are for typing. Don't waste your precious energy feeling bad about work. Everyone there is feeling bad for you! They want you better. You want you better! So take that time without guilt or pressure. Just do what you have to to get back on your feet. Because, in the words of Ms. Clairol, You're worth it!
-
admitted to hospital. Will have CT scan tonight.
-
oh no...sorry to hear it...but perhaps they can get you hydrated and back on track sooner than just toughing it out at home. Keep us posted and know that we are with you in spirit.
-
UGH! Soooo sorry to hear this, DodgersGirl. Here's hoping the CT scan will give your docs a clear sense of what's going on, and a path to get you back on your feet. Let me say once again, this just sucks.
-
I'm sorry DG. Hopefully they can help you quick and get you some relief. Nobody likes being in the hospital but it may be for the best right now. Fluids will help you feel better and help things get back in balance. Keeping you in my prayers!
-
it’s Sunday and I am still in the hospital. So NOT fun.
Attached to an IV for constant fluids to try to combat dehydration from visiting the restroom too many times an hour.
Tummy is still queasy.
At least my room is large and comfortable and the bed is relatively comfortable.
Thanks to all who posted well wishes.

I don't know what to say...except I am so sorry an, yes, po'd for you. I haven't visited this website for a long time...not sure why I felt the need to last night, needless to say, I didn't sleep well after learning about you...hugs, gentle ones, and many prayers for you. Your strength and attitude is amazing.
-
Dodgers, I pray relief is in sight for you. Rest and fluids do a soul and body good. And I agree with utjoy. Your spirit is amazing.
-
utjoy— how are you doing? Been a long road since 2017. Glad you stopped by.
-
HerseyKiss- nice to see you here, too. Thanks for posting! It means a bunch to my spirit.
I am slowly trying different foods with each meal to see what gives me grief and what I can tolerate. I started out on a basic clear diet with broth, bananas, toast, applesauce... had meatloaf and coleslaw tonight. Lots of progress. Now the waiting game to see if trips to the bathroom increase or remain the same.
I am still dehydrated but starting to not feel queasy all the time.
Posting tonight as I feel some better. Yippee!!!
Still getting IV fluid around the clock. But eating way better than last Friday.
Thanks you guys for being part of my journey
And, Moth, sending you good thoughts that your tests will be filled with good news.
-
Hopefully this will be the day you make a big turn back to a sense of normalcy. It's great that you aren't constantly nauseas and that you are trying normal foods. My MO told me to eat yogurt to try to get the gut bacteria back inline but I hate yogurt so I never ate it. I love milk and yogurt just seems like milk gone bad. lol. I like frozen yogurt if it's covered in Chocolate and maybe done strawberries but I'm sure that is not what he meant. Hope your bathroom trips change from the big d to just extratrips to pee as you get rehydrated!
-
Legomaster225— I don’t do yogurt, either. Thought I was the only one!
Thanks for the well wishes. Hoping to sleep better tonight than the last few nights. Sleep helps a lot!!
-
Glad the food is going a bit better, DodgersGirl. That hydration is helping, I think. When I went through a couple of rough patches with chemo, ending up in the hospital on IV fluids, I remember being able to eat the next day...when it is impossible before. Hope the upswing continues!
-
Scrafgal— Thanks! Staff here was been very kind and caring, room is large so family can visit, and bathroom is steps away!
-
I'm doing ok...been a long road for sure. I don't really have anything to say that doesn't sound like whining and that's the last thing I want to do when you're going through so much! Just know that I'm thinking of you!!!
-
Checking in on you Dodge and hoping that next time I read they've juiced you up, un-pooped you and sent you home rested and feeling a bit better. Well, who rests in a hospital? You'll be so glad to get home to your own bed! Hugs and hope for feeling better!
-
DodgersGirl, hope you're feeling better and home now
my news is bad. it's a mass in the lung and axilla
I'm meeting my MO on the 19th and she's frantically trying to schedule an abdomen CT and a biopsy of the mass before then so she can have results when she meets me
I don't even know what to feel or do. i alternate between numb and sobbing -
moth,
I am sorry to hear this news.I honestly feel stunned, although I know, for certain, that the feeling is much deeper and personal for you. I feel sad and upset that you have to feel such anguish. Please hang in there, and we will do the same...praying that you get some good information and a path forward from your MO next week.
-
Moth— OMG. I am saddened to read your news. Please keep us posted so we can virtually hold you through this. You are not alone.
Sending you support and hugs
-
Moth— after I was diagnosed Stage IV, I wasn’t prepared for the boat load of tests thrown at me. So much to schedule and do that it was hard to find time for anything else. If you find something similar, tell yourself that part is very temporary. Doctors need to see what’s what so they can prepare a plan.
Right now scream, cry, laugh... whatever you need to do. It’s ok. Then get a plan and move into battle mode.
-
moth- I’m sorry. I hope you get your tests and a treatment plan in place quickly.
Dodgersgirl- I checked in to see how you are doing. I hope things are improving for you.
Keeping you both in my thoughts ❤️.

I am still in the hospital and still teethered to the bathroom.
I started a new-to-me medication yesterday that does give me about 6 hours without needing a bathroom. But when it wore off, the big D was immediately back and even quicker to fall out my butt. (TMI— sorry).
The med is an old cholesterol drug that was stopped being prescribed because it caused constipation. It is a bile acid sequestration which makes it a good fit for rads diarrhea or HER2+ chemo induced diarrhea. It's called Welchol.
Has some tricky dosing instructions though. You have it with a meal. Three larger pills. Each pill swallowed one at a time with a full glass of water for each pill. I am not hungry by the time I swallow all that water. Also, you have to take other meds 1 hour before Welchol or 4 hours after it which is a pain.
Still taking it one day at a time.
-
Moth, I'm so sorry to hear about your new bitch of a diagnosis. I'm confident you're going to kick this in its butt!
-
I'm really sorry Moth :-(. I'm sure your head is spinning with all the scheduling and testing. Once you get all the information you can get a good treatment plan in place. Hugs.
-
Moth— just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you. Hoping you are finding ways to distract your thoughts while waiting for tests and biopsies to be scheduled
I have CT scan and bone scan scheduled for the 19th, too.
And, still in the hospital
