Hey, how is everyone doing about 3 years out of chemo? Today is my 3-year anniversary of my last chemo. Hair is still not what it used to be; I have neuropathy in fingers and feet, and despite taking the arimidex I have few complaints there. My bilateral mastectomy went well (as did all the other BRCA2 surgeries) and I don't even wear my prostheses anymore.

    Much love,

    Kate

    Howdy, chickdudefood,

Good to see you! I'm hanging in there. I, too, have neuropathy as well as lymphedema. Although I don't dwell on it, it's difficult to ignore the cancer history when you have to fumble into "Michelin Man" lymphedema pump garments at night and even shallow stairs are scary if they don't have guardrails. Still, I know that I'm fortunate to be able to be here to complain about the collateral damage of my treatment. I just had another clear mammogram and it won't be long until I get "promoted" to annual testing. Woo hoo!

I'm glad that your surgeries went well. I hope that you enjoy a happy, healthy future!

i, too, developed lymphedema, due to being in a cast for a broken hand. I have some neuropathy in my feet. I was on an AI for 18 months but chose to go off it almost a year ago as my joints and energy level were a major issue. It has taken me a long time to regain my energy.

Luwusu, I've battled severe Fibromyalgia for 30 years and have arthritis in multiple joints so I totally understand your decision to step away from the AI treatment. Obviously, one wants to reduce the chances of cancer rearing its ugly head again, but each person also needs to consider the impact on quality of life. I'm glad that you're regaining your energy!

I also have neuropathy in my left foot and right hand. Thank goodness no lymphedema. I have been on Exemestane since September 2017 and will be on it for 5 years. I have some bone pain but not unbearable. I am really struggling with insomnia! I have another mammogram and ultrasound in March. It seems like every other mammogram, I get a call back. I find it very stressful when that happens....
