Anastrozole interaction with ginger/turmeric??
A friend suggested a smoothie made of fresh organic spinach, blueberries, pear, ginger root and turmeric root with almond milk. I like it but after reading something on the internet I am now seeing that the ginger and the turmeric may interfere with anastrozole. So now I am not sure if this is true or not. Anyone heard something about it?

hi hun,
Thank you for replying but I am talking about fresh ginger and fresh turmeric not capsules I know from research that there is a difference between taking capsules and fresh as far as interaction. I read that it's more likely to interact with capsules than fresh. Today I saw my family dr and she said no interaction as long as it's a very small piece of both spices. So far it hasn't made a difference as far as a chey bones and joints like some people claim o I don't know:

Hi metoo1, We were wondering what source on the internet are you referencing?
Here is the Here is the Memorial Sloan Kettering entery for ginger: https://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/integrative-medicine/herbs/ginger#field-herb-drug-interactions
and their entry for turmeric: https://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/integrative-medicine/herbs/turmeric
On a first, quick review, we don't find any reliable sources confirming ginger or turmeric specifically interact with anastrozole, but both "can interact with some medications."
As always, discuss with your doctor, as you are doing.

thank you. I will do that.

I was drinking ginger and tumeric spices in tea and also on anastrozole. I stopped about two months ago but I want to start up again. I hope it doesn’t interact in a bad way. One of the reasons why I stopped drinking ginger tea was because I think it made my vision blurry after drInking it. Not sure exactly why it did this to me

AnnC- It is my understanding that blurry vision is a side effect of aromatase inhibitors. I have been drinking ginger tea for a couple of years now and it never effected my vision. I started the AI about two weeks ago and I am noticing some vision blurring. Look up your drug and I bet blurry vision is there as a side effect. The ginger tea is too good to give up!
