Bloody Discharge with pre-existing microcalcifications

Hello,

I am currently in a state of constant worry and I know many of you know exactly the feeling I am talking about.

A little history- I have had three mammograms within the last three years and they have been monitoring a cluster of microcalcifications. There was little to no change and after initial worry, I moved on and really didn't think anything of it. No biopsy was ever performed and my last mammo was about 16 months ago.

Two nights ago I noticed blood being discharged from the side that has the microcalcifications and to be honest I am completely freaking out. I met with a doctor today and I have a Mammo and US schedule for Thursday. I have this slight hope that perhaps the microcalcifications and discharge are unrelated but that is highly doubtful. I have two very young children and I cannot even begin to comprehend what could lie ahead.

Anyway, here I am and I guess I will just have to take everything one step at a time. Thank you for being here to listen.

My Mammo and US is tomorrow and I am terrified. I just feel that my discharge coupled with the known microcalcifications means that a BC diagnosis inevitable. I know I won't have a concrete answer tomorrow but I am so scared about what they will find.

Delta - Take a deep breath. You can do this one step at a time. Whatever will be, will be - AND you can handle it. Good luck tomorrow.

I had my mammogram and ultrasound today and my anxiety has been knocked down a notch. The Dr. suspects a intraductal papilloma. I am scheduled for a biopsy in two weeks. I guess now I just have to wait for the next step in the process.
