Hi Guys,

I am doing radiation and had my mastectomy on 26 November. Both my hands are numb. When I press my fingers they hurt . The index finger in my right hand clicks and hurts a lot. Also my legs hurt when I get up after sitting for a while. Can these Bone Mets. My feet hurt when I walk but get better over time. I have had a ct scan of my chest, pelvis, neck, head and abdomen and are clear. My oncologist was not concerned about my bones but I pressed for a bone scan which is on January 31 . She is sure these are because of treatment

Regards

Flora

Did you have taxol or taxotere? They have a high percentage chance of causing muscle/bone pain and neuropathy in the hands and feet. I am five months out from both and still have tingly fingertips and numb and painful feet.

    Hi Flora,

My partner just finished her treatment and she had a lot of muscle/joint pain during radiation. It was very similar to what you describe. She had almost fibromyalgia-like attacks during that time and it got much better after she was done. We suspected radiation triggered those, even before she started Tamoxifen. Other patients in the hospital complained about the same thing.

    Hope you feel better soon,

    Baker

I hear its pretty rare to get bone mets in hands or feet.

Legs- yep might be meds. But still i think yoh should have a scan. Does she check your tumor markers?

Dear Galimary thank you. I am going to see if my oncologist gives me anything for neuropathy. I have a bone scan scheduled as well.

    Thanks

    Hi kamboka,

Yes I did have Taxol. I hope you feel better soon as I know how it feels. I have so much tingling and numbness that during night I sometimes feel I have no hands. I am going to ask for gabapantine today from my doctor.

    Regards

    Flor

Flora, at the clinicbi go to they have an acupuncturist on staff tp treat neuropathy. It helps me with pain and sleep. They even say it helps with lymphedema but same clinic also has massage therapist to do lymphatic massage that I prefer.

Flo- I don't see that anyone has recommended Claritin yet for bone pain. No one really knows why it works, but in was wonderful for my bone paid after Neulasta shots. It's the regular Claritin - not the "D". It's easy & cheap so maybe worth a try.

Flo80: Sorry to hear that you have so much numbness in your hands. I hope the Gabapentin works. I started out with that along with Cymbalta. I didn't think it really worked so after three months, I stopped a few weeks ago I was having even more insomnia than usual so thought I'd wean myself off most of the drugs to see if that could help. My feet burn and have almost caused me to fall a few times. It's hard to find shoes that don't aggravate.

I used the Claritin for before and after my Neulasta shots and it helped. If you take it, let me know if it helps your neuropathy.

Flo80 I had terrible bone pain after finishing radiotherapy and was convinced I had bone mets like you but I had a bone scan and it was all clear. Gradually the pain subsided as I got better and stronger. I'm 9 years out in March. It gets easier but it is so tough at those early stages.
