Trigger thumbs on AIs
After six months of hormonal, therapy, i’m on a two week holiday from letrozole because of perpetual dizziness. I feel so much better...dizziness was gone the second day of the ‘holiday’ and the whole body pain has started to ease also. I have enegy! What hasn't gone away yet, or shown any signs of going away, is the trigger thumb. After seven days off of letrozole, my thumb is still sore, swollen and clicky—even with naproxen. I haven’t found a real answer to whether or not this is permanent. Anyone know if, after 5 years of this poison, I will be able to knit and play the puano?

After a year or so of aramidex I developed a trigger thumb. PCP did a cortisone injection, it went away hasn’t come back.
Now on letrozole. Thumb base in other hand started to hurt. Was SURE it was letrozole. PCP insisted on X-ray. It’s arthritis and an OLD fracture I don’t remember fracturing.
Suggest seeing your PCP for possible treatment. Do mention it to MO.

I'm not on hormonals, but still developed trigger thumb. Since I was just starting chemo, I refused surgery & the orthopedic doc agreed. I had 4 steroid injections over a year and no more problems

Thanks for your replies—I have appointment with MO next week. My guess is she will refer me to orthopedics and I’ll have the cortisone.
I was previously on aromasin for LCIS—gave it up after a year or so because of pain and lack of energy. About eighteen months after I abandoned the aromasin, US showed DCIS. I guess I have to make some choices and probably deal with the side effects

I also was taking Arimidex from Feb.-Aug. 2019 and developed a lot of pain, swelling and stiffness in my fingers and thumbs. My oncologist switched me to Tamoxifen in Sept. 2019 and said it should ease up in time. It really didn't change much so she referred me to an orthopedic. Originally I only had the issues in my left hand, but then that gradually eased up a bit, and the right hand started giving me even more pain, especially trigger thumb. I basically couldn't even use my right thumb anymore, so in November, got a cortisone injection in that thumb and felt 100% better the very next day! Ortho said it might take a week to get relief but it worked right away. He said it could last 6 months or so and then hopefully after that the joint issues would resolve. So anyway, good luck to you at your appt. and I would highly recommend getting the cortisone. Has been a life changer for me!

thanks. This sounds encouraging.
