edited February 2020 in Not Diagnosed But Worried

I found a lump and have an appointment on February 4th.

QUESTION: Lets just say its the worst and it is cancer. Could waiting until February 4th make a difference between a lumpectomy and a masectomy?

Trying to decide if I should find another doctor.

Thanks for your help.

In a word, no. Unless you had some really weird super-rare fast-growing cancer, which would be extremely unlikely. You'll be fine.

    HI hopeful,

We're sorry you're here and worrying. We know the waiting around can be excruciating as you're anxious for answers, but as Alice says, you should be fine to wait until your scheduled appointment. Try to hang in there and keep your mind busy.

Keep us posted when you find out what's going on!

No it wouldn't make that difference but dammit I hate these waits! The stress I have on these 3 or more week waits is excruciating. I am wanting to find a place that takes into account what these wait times do to us. Most likely you are fine but the wait will possibly give some gray hairs!

THank-you everyone for your responses! I actually decided to call the doctor again to see if there might be any cancellations and I"m going to see a nurse practitioner on Wednesday :)

    UPDATE:

I ended up having the diagnostic mammogram on Wednesday. The radiologist wanted to redo it for spots on both breasts immediately afterwards... then did an ultrasound.......... but in the end it is nothing, I don't even know what it is - I just wanted to get out of there but it is all good.
