so I went for my yearly checkup and my doctor felt a lump and sent me in for mammo and ultrasound. Neither of these test found anything I was told that day.so I thought I was done with this for a year. But 2 days later my doctors office called and said he wants to recheck in 4 weeks. Is this a normal practice to recheck when test saw nothing

Not so normal but it is good they just want to monitor it. You probably have a cyst or something and they want to see if it grows or imaging changes in a month. If it was something really alarming they would've scheduled a biopsy for you. So dont' worry too much until they say they want a biopsy. Even then, I think 80% of biopsies end up being benign. It's good they want to have another look vs. just let you go for an entire year.

maybe I didn’t explain well. The 2 test showed nothing. The US tech said she saw fibrocystic tissue. Could there be something that is just not showing up on mammo or us? The doctor wants me to go back to check see if he still feels the lump. I don’t feel anything

My lump was not seen on mammogram nor ultrasound. Your dr. is being proactive, which is a good thing. I was misdiagnosed for 20 months as my pcp was an idiot and just told me my results were negative and did not recommend anything further.

I also think that because they want to give you some idea of your results before you leave, they didn't yet do the full review and comparisons yet, just first impressions. I no longer expect instant answers (though I'd love that) because it's screwed me over before. First impression looked good....buuuut....upon further inspection they decided I should get a biopsy! So bummed when that happens

I think its great that the doctor is being cautious but I also do believe there is a 1% chance that perhaps he just wants to do another exam on you. Just being completely honest. I went to a male infertility doctor for infertility, not for any type of breast issues. And lo and behold he felt it was necessary to do a breast exam on my frist appointment. Pretty sure he just wanted to touch my breasts.

so I went back yesterday for my 4 week check with my gyn. He still feels the lump even though mammo and ultrasound showed nothing. I don’t think the ultrasound got the area where the lump is. Since I could not feel the lump I think I was not certain on the area that the lump was located. When the ultrasound tech asked me where was the area that the doctor felt I told her the wrong area and she did not do all the breast just that area. Now my gyn is sending me to a surgeon Monday for another opinion.

I'm glad you have a doctor who is proactive. Mine was. I had found the lump 5 months after a clear mammogram. My PCP (wonderful man) said he couldn't feel what I was feeling, but he sent me for an US that same day. He called me 2 days later with the results that it was cancer.
