Core Biopsy Done. Normal to feel like the flu?

Hey all.

This morning I finally had my core biopsy done. It took longer than I thought (I guess since my breasts are so dense he had a harder time getting the needle in) So anyways, it was I want to say 99.9% pain free! Like, I didn't even feel the lidocaine shot! Maaaaaybe a teeny pinch but that was it! Of course the pressure of pushing was uncomfortable/annoying, but still no pain!

So after it was over, close to an hour I guess, I was still numb and just needing to come down off of the anxiety cliff I'd been on all morning. I was a bit teary during the preliminaries of Them getting me registered and prepped, etc. They were so wonderful and supportive and talked me through every step. It really was so crazy how my mind had it worked up waaaaaay more than it was! I would honestly say, I would take this over dental work. Lol. No. JK . But I did feel good enough to go to the mall after with my mom, then took my dogs on a short hike in the woods.

It has been right around 6 hours, post procedure and the lidocaine is wearing off a bit, but still no real pain. Just some burning. I am feeling kind of like you do before the flu. Achy, slightly chilled and maybe a slight fever. I don't know if this can be because of the raging adrenaline rush I was on this morn, maybe doing too much activityafter,or is this a new something I should worry about?? I.e. infection setting in? I most likely will not sleep again tonight (what's new) bc I'll be worried about sepsis. Man o man. One freaking thing with me just rolls in to the next! Now of course after I'm done worrying about dying of infection, the legit worry of the results will be next on the list. :(

    Been here a long time. Don’t remember a single case of sepsis from a biopsy. That is catastrophizing again.

    All your hypotheses are more likely than sepsis, including psychosomatic, coincidental cold/flu, exhaustion from the emotional roller coaster, and even a possible reaction to the numbing agent they used, if it’s one you hadn’t had before.

    Rest/take care of yourself and try not to worry about it. I bet you’ll either feel better or recognize regular cold/flu symptoms within the next day or two

    Thank you. Yes, much better today. Began researching some councilor's in my area. This whole ordeal has brought many things to the surface and should my results come back negative, I'm not really sure I could cop

    I'm so glad you're feeling better! and I love the therapist idea. I think the mental and emotional health aspects of this process are often far too neglected even by otherwise excellent medical professionals.

    Second the therapy idea.

    I would think you had a massive let down of adrenaline and stress post-biopsy and that's why you felt achy etc. That's a lot of stuff to get dumped from your body at one time.
