Worried about IBC and nobody is taking me seriously
So I've made a topic a few days ago.. I have since gone to the doctor.
About 10 days ago I noticed some red rings on my breast, the doctor then said it was ringworm. Thing is, that is ON the skin and the red circles were always under my skin. Also I had some other redness and burning sensation that would come and go. Since wednesday the effected breast is swollen. s4So I decided to go again today. The doctor said it was very weird that the other doctor said it was ringworm and decided to look again. I showed him the redness and he said that is was because of the weight of my breasts, while before he said that the redness looked kind of weird? He said he didn't see any swelling, while one breast is DEFENITELY bigger than the other. He also didn't even hear it when I said I had a burning sensation. At the end he became very rude and it was obvious he wanted me gone. I do have a appointment for a picture (echo, mammogram, i don't know) but that is for the 22nd. Does anybody have any advice for me? I know the chances of it being IBC are so very small, but I just want it ruled out. I didn't even worry that much, until the breast got swollen.

If you don't want to wait for your imaging, make an appointment with a dermatologist to check the skin issue. That's what they do. I know - hard to wait. If you don't mind my asking, how old are you?

To get an appointment with a dermatologist I would have to get a reference from my doctor, but I doubt he will give me one now. Otherwise I would have to go to a clinic, but that won’t get covered by my insurance. I’m 22. I know that since I am young the chances are very small, but I just want to be sure

Though I am no expert, my understanding is that IBC can be easily missed on mammogram and ultrasound. However, a reliable dermatologist can perform a punch biopsy, a relatively quick and easy test, on a suspicious area. You might consider this.

If you can't get into a dermatologist, I guess all you can do is wait for the imaging. Is the doctor you saw primary care, or GYN? Is there a local breast specialist you can see? You're right that it's statistically unlikely to be IBC, but wanting a definite diagnosis is reasonable!
