Anyone else prescribed nitroglycerin ointment with good outcome?

Hello ladies

I am 9 days post op. Wednesday was myfirst follow up appointment with the PS he didn’t like how the incision looked on my left breast. He prescribed nitroglycerin ointment to prevent necrosis. He said if it doesn’t work he will have to surgically repair the necrotic spot...I’m really hoping I don’t have to go that route! Anyone with a similar story with a positive outcome?

    No but it makes sense nitro causes vessels to dilate and increase circulation to the scar. Prevent further necrosis ( hopefully)

    Hi San1975. I'm sorry you are having problems. I had nipple-sparing BMX and went direct to implant; afterward both nipples turned dark and I was prescribed nitroglycerin ointment for a short period of time to try to save the nipples. Although I'm still healing, the nitro cream seems to have worked as color has returned and my PS thinks they will be okay. The headaches I got from using the cream were not fun, though.     Pegasus68 yes I was warned about headaches but so far 4 days using it I haven’t had any side effects. I hope I have good results like you!
