    Hi Snowshoe05,

I am in the Phoenix area. Ironwood cancer center is in Mesa. University of Arizona Cancer center is in downtown Phoenix. Not a bad ride if you don't go during rush hour. I did go to the breast surgeon there for a second opinion. The people there are very nice and I was able to get in quickly. Just an aside, I don't know what treatment you are looking for, I couldn't even get through to the breast surgeon's assistant at Ironwood Cancer Center to schedule an appointment in October. Please try both. you may not have issues like I did. If you need contact info, please private message and I will send it to you.

snowshoe - there is a Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. It's on the list for Minnesota since that's their home base, but not sure if the AZ location is NCI rated. My brother & his wife both had good care there. There's a link below that shows one in Tucson, which isn't particularly useful.

    Good luck.

I live in No. AZ and now go to Ironwood Cancer Center for my six month follow up care; there are several good places in metro Phoenix. My MO retired in No. AZ early last year and I decided to go to Phoenix for better care--Mayo couldn't take me for follow up care even though I was already a patient for some other health tx I received from them, but Mayo recommended Ironwood or Virginia Piper Cancer Center to me. Mayo Phoenix isn't quite as strong as Mayo Rochester, but you could try them too. Finally, MD Anderson is right in Gilbert and I went to them for second opinions when I was initially dx.

I had no problem getting an appt at Ironwood. I've seen Dr. Kamaldi twice now, and he has good ratings and good experience (I checked up on his bio, etc.).

    Good luck!

Hi snowshoe05. I'm new to the forum, but not the circumstances that brought us here. I see that you posted your inquiry a while ago, but thought I'd answer, just in case you are interested in checking out options.

I've been a patient with Banner MD Anderson, in Gilbert, AZ, for the past two years. I live in Mesa, but am only 5 miles from them. I highly recommend this center. Twelve years ago I was going to the Mayo clinic in Phoenix, but now have metastasized breast cancer. Having been to both centers, I prefer MD Anderson. There are so many benefits to going there. The biggest plus is that all procedures are done right there, in one location. No need to find labs or imaging facilities, as it's all in house. I also prefer their chemo routine. There is a nurse at your side the entire time and there is never more than two people to a nurse. I could go on and on... Hopefully, you've found a good care and are doing well.

    Best regards,

    Vikki
