I have an appointment for a consult for fat grafting post breast cancer treatment. I’m scared and am looking for any stories/details/experiences from others. It’s probably going to cost me a lot of money bc the doctor is out of my insurance network. Really need to decide if it’s worth it.

I just had fat grafting on Friday. I'm sorry to say that for me it was a waste, and I didn't pay a penny for it. My BMI is ~20-21 and my PS only got 30ccs of fat transferred, and probably only half of that will survive. I don't think I have any other options left so I'm just going to have to live with my lopsided, lumpy boobs. If you have more fat available you'll probably get a better result. The procedure didn't leave me in much pain. Once I left the hospital (two hours after surgery) I managed with just tylenol and advil, so at least there's that. I'm a little bitter about the six weeks off running for no real benefit.

I had fat grafting. It did not work for me. However, I am a skinny person and the fat was taken from my stomach. I had very little fat there - I did ask my surgeon if he would get enough, he assured me he could. I was stupid to defer to him, it was pretty obvious that there wasn't enough fat. I am left with permanent cellulite looking bumps and marks on my once flat abdomen (still there four years later, but not as bad). So it was a total failure. I did not get enough to make any discernible difference to my breasts (plus the fat was mainly reabsorbed about six months after) and ruined my lovely stomach.

After the procedure, I was uncomfortable and there was some pain but nothing a couple of tylenol didn't take care of. I found wearing the compression garment the hardest part of the whole thing.

Total disaster in my particular case. But again, I was not a good candidate to begin with.

ugh that’s exactly what I was worried about. I also am very thin and doubt this will do anything for me as well. I have some fat on my butt, but none on my stomach. I probably shouldn’t even do this... implants would probably look really nice on me, but I’m not willing to do them.

MTN I just had implant exchange with fat grafting and I am very thin as well. My PS was only able to get very little as well. I know it's very early but I'm hoping a good amount survives and they look good so far. The only downside is that I have rippling on one side which means I'll need more FG. Waiting to see PS.

I have had fat grafting twice. I am thin, especially up top. They were able to get some from thighs the first time a a little from love handles the second time. It has helped and the harvested areas look great. A very skilled plastic surgeon is key! I remember when Tara Reid had lipo years ago on her stomach and she had a terrible result. Those pictures haunted her for years! I think the ab area is a tougher area to do in general and have a good result. I am also a 20 BMI.

I have fat grafting scheduled for February and I'm hopeful for good outcomes! My surgeon is letting me choose the area, and I have some thigh fat that is calling his name. My stomach is fairly flat, so it would be a waste of time to get it from there.

My surgeon talked through the care he'll take to keep me from having weird divots, and I'm very hopeful.
