New 1.5 cm ground glass nodule not present 6 mos ago

Options

My ct scan showed a new 1.5 cm “in-determinant ground glass” nodule in my lung, same side as cancer in breast, but that was not there 6 mos ago. One line mentions waiting 3 month to rescan (that would be 3 CT scans in less than 9 mos) and another line recommends PET scan. Does anyone know who I should contact to pursue this?

Oncology? Pulmonology? Breast surgeon?

I have been out of treatment for 9 years.

This all started because I am having pain in my clavicle and armpit areas. Ultrasound revealed swollen clavicle node but that’s not mentioned in the CT report.

Who ordered the CT scan to begin with? I would start with oncologist. If you're uncomfortable with his/her opinion then you could consult a pulmonologist. At the very least I would do the 3 month scan for comparison. It is quite possible the nodule and ground glass will remain stable. My husband has lung cancer and it is truly unbelievable how fast it comes. I don't think that would be the case for mets to the lung from BC cells but definitely have another set of eyes read your report, or even the last 2 or 3. Hope you get an answer soon as to what is causing your pain. Good luck.

I'm sorry to hear about your husband. Thank you for the advice. My Primary care doc ordered the CT scan when the ultrasound she ordered for my painful clavicle came back needing additional imaging. The pulmonologist called and left me a message yesterday morning but I didn't find it til today - evidently radiology sent my case to him. So hopefully we can connect Monday - I've called him back. I have an appointment a month from now with oncology but I'd really rather not wait that long. Reading up on all of this is putting me in a bad mood!!! LOL The not knowing is the absolute worst. Did your husband have a fine needle biopsy?

I'd probably follow up with all of the above and see who could get me in first...because I am not a patient patient. Keep us posted.
