Worried about additional Testing
Hi
About 4 months ago they discovered a very small tumor. Seriously I cannot remember if I had a CT scan or something else that day right after the mammogram. Next a few minutes later they did a needle biopsy and they discover something like Atypical hyperplasia. I got a rash that was hard to cure mostly on my legs so my original surgery got postponed. On December 16th I had a lumpectomy and have been waiting for the results. My doc called me today and total me he sent the results to Stanford and he should have the results next week. My issues is many of my relatives have died from cancer. I turned 66 this yr never met my mom's mother who died from breast cancer, my mom had it three times, lumpectomy and radiation, came back than removal of the lower part of her lung and chemo, came back and she past. I had the test done and do not carry the BRAC gene Dad had Lymphoma went into remission and then passed from Esophageal cancer and my ex died of the same in 2003. My good friend had breast cancer 3 times then passed. Her face was so disfigured I did not recognize her until she spoke. My aunt on father's side died of breast cancer. Then my friend past from pancreatic cancer. They all past year after year in the 90's. I did hospice care for my mom and dad. My dad's stupid hospice nurse gave me the tasks she should have done. I still am dealing with PTSD from all this. One ray of light is my daughter has been in remission for over 15 yrs of Thyroid Cancer. I know logically all this is treated differently now and now the cure levels are amazing and seen a few of my friends go into remission. I should not be worried as though I am living in the 1990's but it is hard. I told my daughter years ago I would never do chemo from what I saw and thought after the gene testing I was home free lol you just never know right!!

That would most likely have been an ultrasound before the biopsy. It's usually mammogram, ultrasound, biopsy, sometimes an MRI.
At a certain point in our lives, we're going to know and be related to a LOT of people who have died from cancer (and other diseases). There isn't necessarily a connection. Both my parents had cancer, my maternal grandmother, my paternal aunt... and probably others. I had no genetic connection either. Losing friends to cancer (and I've lost several) is certainly sad and even traumatic, but completely unrelated to your own risks. You should know some results on your cancer type from the biopsy - the post-surgical pathology fills in the rest of the details.

In 1991, chemo killed my dad. Not the cancer. I said then I’d never do chemo. Should have nailed that oncologist for everything.
So I was dx’d originally with stage 3, grade 3. And chemo was ordered for me. Was not a happy camper. Wasn’t easy, but doable. Decided I wanted to live.
7 years later, it came back. Now I’m stage 4, on chemo of some sort for life.
Never say never.
