Hello.

I am a patient. I have been diagnosed with a serious illness, and in recent days nothing has made me happy.

There is nothing to interest me ... Tell me what to do in such a situation?

I distracted myself from bad thoughts by exercising - just walking, really. Walking far and fast or slow and steady in the most beautiful place I could find. Water, trees, birds etc. That's one suggestion.

I also focused on people who have much worse illnesses and problems than I do. Yes, a cancer diagnosis is bad. But it is treatable. I can think of things that, for me, would be worse.

Hope you find some comfort and some pleasant distraction to get you through the days ahead.

I assume since you're here, your "serious illness" is breast cancer? Do you have a stage and grade and treatment plan yet?

Imation...I sought distraction in simple like Walking,.hiking, praying.

Also sought out apps when I just needed noise to fill my head from negative thoughts. A few of my favorites are: pray as you go; laudate; ;from the friars: nocturne; and lore.

    Hope all is well.

Find something good to think about and every time you think of your illness, think about that good thing.

Exercise does help. Also if you have a friend you can just talk to so that you can express what is going on. Another is to get your focus on someone else - if you are helping others that takes your mind off of your illness. Being thankful - thinking of good, positive things also helps.

I just got diagnosed two days ago with breast cancer. I started learning to crochet during my waiting period for those results. It keeps my mind on something else and my hands busy so I don’t spend my whole day researching my breast cancer. It has helped a lot

I do the same. My mind never stops. I do exercise and work a full time job. Have to take meds to sleep and take an antidepressant. You are not alone. The time since my dx has been since 09,09/19, never stop thinking about it

Deliberately plan fun things to do. It does help.
