Holiday blues

Options

Hi everyone, am I the only one that used to love the holidays and now dreads them? I am weaker by the day and after 2 years of stage IV I'm like an earthquake victim ( no ill meaning intended)--folks move on, nobody offers to help anymore.

(stage IV, spread to bones and liver, on chemo on and off since 2012, stage IV since 2017, 6th line of treatment (currently erubilin+herceptin+biosphenates for the bone degredation). Single with 2 teenagers, no "caregiver", no relatives)

I used to love everything about Christmas and New Year's : (

    Hi arolsson,

We're so sorry you're feeling down during this time of year, especially when you used to enjoy it so much! We can assure you that you're not alone in these emotions -- it's very common, and we're sure others will be by shortly to share their experiences and support.

In the meantime, you may find it helpful to check out this blog post from the main Breastcancer.org site that focuses on these difficult times and offers good advice for managing your emotions: Mixed Feelings During the Holidays?

We hope this helps and that you start feeling a little brighter soon. Sending lots of positive thoughts and holiday spirit your way

For me it's always been a difficult time of year, in varying degrees. I'm so sorry you're going through this, and with so little help. You mention that no one offers to help. Are you able to ask for it? Most people want to help. It just doesn't always occur to them, or they don't know what to do.

This year is especially difficult with a family relationship issue to push through.

Here is a song I've always liked.
