BIRADS 4 US guided core needle biopsy

Newcomer here.This past Friday I had a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound at a major hospital breast cancer center, after wishy-washy local tests giving me a BIRADS 3 with 6 month follow up. The cancer center radiologist puts the mass at BIRADS 4, with core biopsy coming up on Monday. It’s all very concerning to me as I was also recently found to have enlarged inguinal lymph nodes. Anyone going into biopsy with distant lymph node issues? My primary care doc said we’ll do another ultrasound of inguinal lymph nodes after 3 months. I suppose depending on this biopsy, that could change.

    I appreciate the effort to bump my post. Not sure why I’m not getting feedback? Mammo and US report describes the issue as anindistinct hypoechoic mass with echogenic rim. Radiologist explained she was ordering biopsy due to inability to draw an outline, as well as the hazy appearance over it. I’m headed for biopsy at 3pm today.

    Hi Anna,

    Sorry that no one has replied to your post. Sometimes posts get lost here if there isn't a quick response and they fall down on the "Active List" and then no one sees them.

    The other reason in your case may be that you've asked a very specific question, and it could be that no one currently on the board has had that experience. I've been hanging out here for a long time, and I can't recall anyone who had enlarged inguinal lymph nodes at the same time that they were going for a breast biopsy. I'm sure it's happened, but it's not very common.

    Good luck with the biopsy and please let us know how it goes. I promise you'll get more responses when you post about that!

    I am new here myself. I am having a US guided biopsy on the 19th. This is my first of those (I have had a stereotactic biopsy in the past). I think one thing that has helped me along my testing journey is that I have gotten all of the mammogram/ultrasound/biopsy reports in writing. It really helps to see what the doctors are seeing and the medical terms they use in the reports.
