I’ve been on the Lupron shots now for 1 year and 8 months. Initially it made me feel more achy after getting the shot and the flashes increased. Now since al ost two years have passed, i think the flashes are the more prominent side effect after the shot. I am also taking exemestane as well so I cannot attribute all the flashes to the shot alone but I do feel that it increases it for a day or two.

    Hello,

I see you have lots of responses, so good. I was on lupron for like a year. I noticed having a little more energy after I stopped taking it but overall I think I tolerated it ok. I opted for a oophorectomy after stopping the lupron. It doesn't have to be a nightmare but drugs often can be. I wish you the best of luck.

    Hi everyone,

I really appreciate everyone's replies. Sorry for being absent for a while; I've had a lot of other health issues going on that have been causing me issues.

I am still on the fence about the Lupron/Zolodex. My MO is adamant that I take it. I guess I will just try one month and see how it goes. I'm still taking Herceptin (I have two more infusions), so I will most likely be starting Lupron or Zolodex in January.

It seems like some people have tons of side effects and others have almost none. I really hope this drug will not cause me any more issues. I have been through enough with all this. Taking Tamoxifen has caused me enough issues with depression and anxiety. I hate the way it makes me feel. I am unsure if it is worth it adding anything else to the mix. I am so tired of taking drugs. I don't want the cancer to come back, of course. But I'm so tired of taking drugs.

Sorry for the rant, but I've just been really down lately about all this. I do appreciate everyone's input, though. : ) Thanks so much.

I get a 6-month Lupron depot shot in my belly which doesn't really hurt (I have plenty of padding!). You get a big lump where the medication is injected and feels like a big mosquito bite for a few days, then it all subsides and I'm fine. My first shot was a 1-month to check I was ok on it, then I got the 6-month shot - works out cheaper too.

I've had some pain in my joints, especially my fingers and toes, but not sure if it's the Lupron or Tamoxifen. Takes be a bit of time to get the stiff bones moving when I get up, but once I get going I'm ok.

I had my last Lupron shot on December 2nd. My first was in July. I gained some weight from the forced menopause and have some hot flashes but otherwise, I feel fine.
