Would you mind sharing your age at time of diagnosis?

I was 40 after having my first mammogram done, nothing showed but when I went into the ED for chest pains the tumor appeared on the CT scan.

So I've responded once, but have to add 2 more DX.
27 - IDC stage IB
45 - DCIS
46 - IDC Stage IIA
I would say that the counts represented mean a lot, especially since they don't even recommend women get mammograms until age 40, and we have significant numbers under 40. Also, look at all of those who were DX in their 20s. When I was DX the first time, at 27, it was almost unheard of...now? Not so much

Breast Cancer shouldn't be. If it is then it should be a disease of old ladies and gentlemen, not young people. It's hard enough when one is in one's 60's or older. It is unbelievably cruel for anyone younger.

I had my biopsy 2 days after I turned 51

Official DX on my 47th. Cried a river or two but life went on and I am thankful

I was 54 diagnosed July 6, 2019 54 years old. Invasive Lobular Carcinoma In Situ. ER Positive, PR Positive HER2 Negative. Bilateral mastectomy. Just had reconstruction surgery June 21, 2019 with implants. Unfortunately the Allergan textured that were recalled a month later. Having the textured replaced with smooth (not Allergan) November 22.

77 via mammogram and an astute radiologist. The tumor was so close to the chest wall that only the very top of it was seen on the image and it was not palpable. Had faithfully had annual mammograms over several decades and, thankfully, ignored the national thinking to stop getting them at age 75. I would much rather deal with a false positive (been there, done that) than miss the real thing. Back on the annual mammogram plan now.

My age was 67, with DCIS (ER, PR positive) found during annual mammogram. My internist had just suggested getting a mammogram every other year, but I decided that was not wise. The only other breast cancer in my family was an aunt who was diagnosed at age 85.
My sister at age 73 found a palpable lump and redness and was diagnosed with Triple Negative and since has had chemo, lumpectomy with 1 lymph node removed which was negative for cancer after her chemo, followed by hematoma (surgery and drainage followed), radiation (30), subsequent multiple staph infection, procedures, drains at the lymph node site. If her infection ever gets well, she will go on Xeloda.
We both had negative results for gene testing, my sister had the Invitae 47 gene test and I had the Ambry 34 gene test (which includes DNA and RNA in test).
