ENDOMETRIAL HYPERPLASIA

Hi Ladies! I have been on Tamoxifen 20mg for 15 months now and was diagnosed with Endometrial Hyperplasia 8 months into taking the med after doing a Sono and precautionary uterine biopsy. I recently had to go to the ER for severe uterine bleeding. My menstruation pretty much stopped the month I started taking the Tamox. Only spotting once in those 15 months. All of a sudden 2 weeks ago, I started having very strong "contractions" [yes, they were that strong] and then the next day, the most terrible thing that can happen did. It was a horrible experience that involved having to run to a store and buy new clothes, running home (1+hour commute), nautiousness, dizziness, then eventually that evening going to the ER. My #'s were low and almost needed a transfusion apparently. I was given a med to slow bleeding and Morphine finally for the pains, which I refused at the beginning, but I had to actually go through a physical exam and vaginal ultrasound while I was feeling all of that, so I caved for the Morphine. I am better now, but because of this incident and the 3 sonos I have had so far this year, including the ER sono, I was told I now need a DNC done before it happens again. This, of course, is all due to taking Tamox and causing the thickening of the uterine lining. I am constantly feeling bloated, crampy and never know when it can happen to me again. Even after that incident, the lining is still thick. I am REALLY considering a hysterectomy as this is only my 1st year on Tamox and it was recommended 10 years, as I am pre-menopausal. It was truly traumatizing and a terrible experience I never want to go through again. Beyond all of the other side effects Tamox has given me, this has been the worst and most troubling. I do realize if I do the hysterectomy, I will then most likely be put on AIs, which from what I have seen, have a whole other set of side effects. I am frustrated that although my BC was "killed" by my surgery & radiation, this pill which I know is to protect me from recurrence has caused this whole other set of issues, along with slightly increasing my chance of uterine cancer while on it. I really don't know what to do. I will be having the DNC before end of this year I believe, then we go from there. I was told it is to make sure there is no "abnormal" tissue, which is frightening enough to hear. ***** I would like to know who else has gone through anything similar and if you can share your experience with what you did afterwards.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. I can't give you advice but I can tell you you are not alone. Just yesterday, I was told that I needed a biopsy because my uterine lining was 19mm, which apparently is too thick.

II was dx w/ bc about 2 months before you and have been on Tamoxifen since May 2018. I have';t had any noticeable problems from the Tamoxifen other than joint pain so this was a surprise. I'll be 50 in January and am considering having a hysterectomy in order to mitigate my risk for uterine cancer.

I am a about 1 year into tamoxifen and just had a D&C and biopsy seriously this morning. Couple of factors that may have contributed to this, Tamoxifen, IUD placement in May, and PCOS. I get my results at the end of the week so I will figure it out.
