Hi! New to this forum and appreciate the information I’ve found already. I’m 42 yo mom of 2 - 2.5 & 4.5. Have been having localized pain near aureola for a few months which is worsening/more frequently noticeable. Pain is usually only when kids bump me, dog jumps up, etc but also don’t want hubby to touch. Decided to have my first mammogram (have been pregnant and/or breastfeeding for 5 years - weaned about this time last year). Abnormal findings on 3D, so had ultrasound. Small mass in upper outer area on right and another, smaller mass on ultrasound (where I told the doctor performing it the pain is). Was told to return in 6 months. No explanation of what is causing the pain. “Very small” and “not too concerning” were the only comments when pressed. Because they cannot palpate a lump, it seems, there is nothing to do. Also, have noticed my bra sticking to my right breast,so assume there is drainage. No family history. Otherwise healthy.

Get a copy of your written radiology reports so you know what they actually say. Apparently you were given BiRads 3, probably benign (less than 3% being cancer), on what they see and that is why the six month follow up. They just want to check for stability to make sure nothing has changed. You'll get a lot more information as to what actually WAS seen with your reports.

Thanks for your response. I had a 0 rating and that’s why they sent me for the ultrasound. Although I understand it’s likely just because I have “very dense breasts” and it was my baseline, the pain isn’t normal and I wondered why they didn’t tell me what it was that they saw there - only a measurement on the report
