Neck lump?

Options

Hi everyone. I’m not sure where to post, but didn’t want to on my usual Facebook support group so as not to whip anyone into an anxious frenzy.

Background-2.5 cm high grade DCIS RIGHT SIDEw/comedo-necrosis (pathology second opinion was completed at a comprehensive cancer center in CA)diagnosed Oct 2017 when I was nursing my youngest. Treated with bilateral mastectomy, no further tx. (did a short trial of tamoxifen because I wanted to, but could not tolerate due to its effect on my blood pressure 180/100!). I am casually followed by my oncologist who basically says, “see you when you need me”. My last appointment there was in February 2019. I have an upcoming appointment in A few weeks that they rescheduled from July.

I found a LEFT sided superclavicular node that is small, but painful and firm. I was having pain in that area when I lifted a large pot off the stove, and massaged it and felt it. Of course I’m freaking out. I had my husband feel it who has worked as an oncology PA, and he was not concerned. But he’s never concerned about anything.

Not sure what I’m looking for exactly, in terms of a response, but I do know that supraclavicular nodes of any kind aren’t good (I work in the medical field and know just enough to scare myself).

Anyhow, just throwing this out there. I’ll be sure to keep you updated as things play out.

Jumping in for a quick update. I was able to see a primary care (but not my primary) last week (still earliest to see my oncologist is Dec 2) who felt the lump and didn't think it was "anything" to be concerned about. But, she did order an ultrasound for my peace of mind. The ultrasound is tomorrow morning. Trying not to freak out, but it's really really hard. I didn't sleep at all last night. Anyhow, keep you all updated as I know more.

Hoping the ultrasound gave good news.

Thanks for checking in. I had the ultrasound, but I’m still waiting for results. So annoying. I’ll update once I hear.

So I heard from my primary yesterday. He said that it was a lymph node on ultrasound but that it was very small and in all likelihood benign. The plan Is to repeat the ultrasounds if the node is still there in another's 4-6 weeks with the potential for a biopsy. He also noted that it wasn't not a supraclavicular node, but an posterior cervical node (but it is in the base of my neck).I have some scalp dermatitis and he thinks this is what is causing the node to react.

Yes, reactive nodes can give anyone a good scare but, with the scalp issue, I would think of it as they’re doing their job! Hopefully things will calm down over the next several weeks. Are you treating the dermatitis?
