I would like opinions on the pros and cons of having tattoos done in a doctors office vs tattoo shop.

Also, does anyone have experience with Lenny Renken Tattoos in Omaha?

You need to chose a 3D tattoo artist who specializes in 3D nipple tattoos. One who does tattoos as a career and has done lots and lots of nipple tattoos. You MIGHT find someone like that in a drs office but you’re much more likely to find those requirements in a tattoo artist.

I have heard that they use different inks in drs offices and that they fade. I’m not an expert on inks so that would be a really good question as you interview artists.

Everyone here raves about Vinny Myers and artists he has trained. He was too far for me to travel so I went to a local artist, Eric Eye in Seattle. He spent a long time with me to figure out exactly what I wanted and getting the color and size right. He also offered free touch ups the first year.

Getting these tattoos was probably the best thing I did for myself after surgery. Now when I look in the mirror I look nearly normal. Just wish I could show them off

Is that Eric on capital hill, near broadway? I feel really strange going to a tattoo parlor, it seems so open and having a man do the nipple tattoo not sure I could bring myself to do that. I guess I am old and very modest individual. I thought about madame lozenge down on Western. I think the shop is wide open with booths like at the hair dressers. Ugh I want it done but bringing myself to it is hard. I had 2 tattoo attempts at the doctor's office which was private both faded completely away.

Meow13 After further research, I see he works out of the following location.

    Aesthetic Surgery | Dreams MedSpa
17617 Burke Street at Village Pointe Medical Center

Have you heard anything about the place? I am in Sioux Falls.

I know of one woman message from a breast cancer Boutique who does them but charges $700. A random tattoo shop will charge me only $200.

Cost is an issue for me but at the same time do you think you get what you pay for?

Ladies, I had my first set of tattoos at my doctors office and they faded and looked like the Target sign at the mall! I did get a second set at a tattoo shop in Upland CA by Corey Miller. It did cost $600, but worth every penny! They look so good and like said above, makes a big difference when you look in the mirror. Robin

I seriously considered 3D nipple tattooing for my one missing nipple. I agree that going to a highly experienced tattoo artist is very important, but realize that the costs can be high. I recall that there were artists who offered free or low cost services to breast cancer patients, so you might try to find an experienced artist and see if they have any special programs to reduce the cost. Ultimately, I decided not to do it because I was just plain tired of anything mire being done to my body. All the best

I got a quote of $600 at tattoo shop. My doctor's office made 2 failed attempts ink completely faded they charged my insurance both times.

Not at all comfortable with going into the shop to have it done but I guess no choice if I want it permanent.

Hi, I had mine done by Vinnie Meters 2 months ago. It is super private and you are in Vinnie's office in a closed room. Everyone is very nice and respectful. Vinnie is great and will make you feel at ease. He did a beautiful, realistic job.Quick and pretty painless. So glad I did it.

No I went to a woman in Federal Way WA, she is local and has expertise in dealing with scar tissue. I go back next week for touch up, she only charges $80 a session. She explained that nipple tattooing can be difficult on reconstructed breast due to the scar tissue. She thinks it may take another try.

She did a beautiful match to my real side I am happy.

I have an appointment for a nipple tat with my plastic surgeon's NP. Of course, I already know her, so I am comfortable with that. It is after my last Herceptin infusion, so I see it as a closure ceremony. Except my oncologist and I will be discussing post-treatment surveillance at my next infusion appointment, so-- there is never really any closure.....ah, well, someday, eventually, they will close my casket.
