Quick results = Bad News?

edited November 2019 in Waiting for Test Results

I just did my mammography and ultrasound this morning. I asked when I can know, and they said: "End of this week. Or you can actually come pick up your results tomorrow." They also instructed me to take them to my doctor.

I'm confused, I know that bad news are always prioritized. If they're able to give me results next day does that mean something bad?

Back story: I found a lump 3 weeks ago, gyneco checked it and asked me to get a mammo and ultrasound.

I wouldn't read too much into this, honestly. When my mammogram and ultrasound looked bad, the radiologist came and talked to me on the spot to tell me I needed a biopsy. I would worry more if they withhold the information from you and require your doctor speak to you about it first. I guess it varies from center to center but that's been my experience.

Thank you for your reply and reassuring words, I hope so too. I am sorry about the results that you received :(

On another note, cancer is scary as heck. I never thought I'd be so terrified until I went through the testing experience myself. My heart goes out to anyone who has to experience it.

Sounds to me like that's their normal procedure for everyone.

I had one breast removed one year ago..I just had what I thought was a routine mammo and ultrasound of my other breast. OMG next thing I know the radiologist is talking to me about having a biopsy on 2 suspicious things they see.. Could it be possible to have breast cancer twice in a year?? I too am a nervous wreck about it..Luckily I go Friday so I wont have to wait too long.. I hope we all get good news...

my local clinic called me with benign results in under 24 hours. They try to do them all as quickly as possible to ease worrying/anxiety.

best wishes to all of you awaiting results. I will be there next Friday after my lumpectomy. Fingers crossed my Fibroadenoma isn’t a phyllodes.

Posting this here in case someone else goes through the same thing: Results in: They can't confirm 100% but likely benign! Will have to keep following up every 6 months though

Alea- that’s good news! They have to be pretty convinced it’s benign to recommend the 6 month follow up vs a biopsy right away, from what I understand. I hope it stays stable for you.
