I'm not what your actual dx is/will be after pathology. Wishing you a quick healing!

As to your RADs question, even though for me my nodes came back negative, I still needed 4 weeks of Radiation. Everyone's case is different though, so I'm not sure what you will need of course, but it's still likely that some sort of RADs will be needed. At least that seems to be what is the usual protocol for IDC.

Oncologists have explained it to me that surgery treats you in the specific location, radiation treats you for generalized local spread, and endocrine therapy is the systemic treatment body wide.

Was there talk of RADs for you prior to your surgery? IMO if there was, I would think that would still be on the table.

Can you call your nurse navigator with your questions?

Yes there was talk about radiation in the beg after surgery but I feel like 6 wks is extreme.. The plan was chemo for 5 months Axillary lymph node dissection after chemo the radiation for 6 wks everyday... But instead I did the chemo and a sentinel node biopsy was done..Hope they reduce the 6 wk radiation part since the biopsy came out negative.. thank you for replying back

The total amount of radiation is standard and typically administered over 20 days or 33 days. I had 20 days in 2016 when it was just DCIS but 33, which is recommended after chemo because the skin doesn't hold up as well. The 33 days is a bit less each time.

Did you have a lumpectomy? I had no lymph node involvement and still needed 6 weeks of radiation and 5 years of Anastrozol, I am thinking this is common after a lumpectomy but everyone is different. Wishing you a quick recovery from your surgery!
    Hugs!

No I didn't have a lumpectomy... the cancer was in the Axillary (armpit) only.. The doctors wanted to do an Axillary lymph nodes dissection..But ask the doctor if they can do a sentinel node biopsy which came it negative 🙏🏼 If it was positive then they where going to do the whole Axillary lymph nodes dissections. And Thank you 🙏🏼
