worried about red mark on breast

I had a small spot on my lower breast that had been scratched and was starting to form a scab when I first noticed it about 4 weeks ago. since then it has healed but it’s red. It’s very tiny. Breast is not red, sore, hot, or enlarged. But I am in A state of panic thinking this could be inflammatory breast cancer. This area has not changed or gotten larger or worse. Everything I’ve been reading says inflammatory breast cancer. So my anxiety level has been through the roof. No sleep and crying

    From what I have seen women with IBC say to others with concerns, it spreads quickly. So it doesn’t sound like what you have. Of course, if it doesn’t heal soon, see a dr.

    Thank you! This spot is really tiny and it has not got any bigger nor has it changed. I get a basal cell skin cancers quite a bit and it kind of looks like one of them except this is in the lower portion of the side of my breast.

    Getting a scratch doesn't cause IBC. You injured your skin, some redness at the site of the injury as it heals is normal. You said that the scratch has healed so it doesn't sound like it's infected, but if the redness persists you can see a doctor for peace of mind. If you do see a doctor, make sure to tell them that the area of concern is a healed scratch.

    If you scratched the skin any where else on your body would you assume it was cancer? Skin on breasts is the same skin.

    I would not bother seeing a doctor about a skin scratch but would look into anxiety regarding cancer. Anxiety can be debilitating.

    Thank you, I found it by accident about three weeks ago and it was scabbing over then. The scab fell off after about a week and left a slightly elevated red spot. I Have just read some things on IBC that said it could look like a bug bite, spider bite, etc and it ramped up the anxiety. This spot is very small but the redness is why I have been so concerned. How fast does IBC progress? I appreciate all the information and I am going to get an appointment with my doctor to talk about this over the top anxiety

    When a scab falls off (anywhere on body) the skin doesn't automatically go back to showing no signs of anything having been there.

    Visiting cancer sites is not really helping your anxiety over having cancer. I would find a forum for those with health anxiety.

    The spot on my breast is still there. It’s still the same size. There is no other symptoms of anything. it’s been five weeks since I saw it and during that It has not changed. My anxiety is really bad. Going to my GP today. Will talk to him and have him take a look at it

    When I get a zit on my face or a scrape on my knee I have a red mark on my skin for a very long time after it heals.
