Waiting For Biopsy Results
I had a mammogram and ultrasound on October 11th due to a discharge from my right nipple. I became concerned when they needed more pictures of my left breast. The ultrasound results are concerning (see below). Had 3 biopsies done on October 22nd. Haven't gotten the results yet and am very nervous.
BIRADS CATEGORY: 5 HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS OF MALIGNANCY
Recommendation: Biopsy
Bilateral breast ultrasoundFINDINGS:
Right breast:
Scanning was performed throughout the retroareolar area for the nipple discharge. At the 9 o'clock position in the retroareolar area there are 2 small adjacent masses. They are hypoechoic and irregularly shaped. The 1st measures 3 x 4 x 3 mm the 2nd measures 6 x 4 x 4 mm. These may be small papillomas. A biopsy of 1 of these should be performed. There is a small cyst at the 12 o'clock position in the retroareolar area. Corresponding to the mammographic mass at the 12 o'clock position approximately 9 cm from the nipple is a intramammary lymph node.
Left breast:
Corresponding to the mammographic mass in the left breast at the 5:30 position approximately 6 cm from the nipple is a hypoechoic mass which is irregularly shaped and there are irregular and angulated margins. There is posterior acoustic enhancement. This lesion measures 16 x 13 x 18 mm. This is highly suggestive of malignancy. This lesion should be biopsied.
At the 5:30 position approximately 3 cm from the nipple there is a rounded isoechoic mass measuring 7 mm. The margins are mildly indistinct. At the 3 o'clock position approximately 1 cm from the nipple there is a hypoechoic irregularly shaped mass measuring 6 7 by 3 6 by 6 no meters. It is parallel to the skin surface. There are no specific posterior acoustic changes. There are angulated margins.
At the 12 o'clock position approximately 3 cm from the nipple is a hypoechoic bilobed mass which is parallel to the skin surface, marginated and there are no specific posterior acoustic changes. This lesion measures 14 x 6 x 9 mm. A biopsy this lesion should also be considered.

There is a thread about interpreting these reports and there is a radiologist who can help you. The waiting is so hard after the biopsies. My thoughts are with you.

Thank you MamaAvery. I have now found the thread, but don't wan to break the rules and post the same thing in two places.

Hopefully he will see it here then.
