My mom had a mammogram a couple of weeks ago, doc found a lump in her left breast. When the mammogram results came back, it was referred to as a "spiculated mass" and then they noted two lumps, one large one in her lymph nodes. She just had a biopsy where they took tissue from her lymph nodes and her breast. What is the likely hood realistically she has breast cancer? These are all new terms to me.

Hi dear, I can relate to your anxiety and fear because my mom went through something similar but she turned out okay after the biopsy (it was not breasts, and the doctors told her that there was an inflammation that is likely cancerous. she did the biopsy and she was okay).

The thing about cancer is that you never know. You might have bad symptoms, and be fine. You might have no symptoms at all, and have cancer. That's why it's so scary I guess.

The only thing I can tell you is take it one day at a time. If she really does have cancer, that doesn't always mean she's dying. Most of the time it can be treated.

It's funny I am telling you all this when I myself am waiting for my tests and I am TERRIFIED. It's normal to be afraid. We can be rational when we talk to other people and we are removed from a situation, but when it's us, or someone we love, we can't stop thinking of the worst possibilities. Take a deep breath, hope for the best, and IF, IF it turns out to be cancer, have faith in your mom's strength, she will be able to fight it.

I really hope your mom is okay, keep us posted. Sending you love
