hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and I think I may be thinking worst case scenarios and wondered if anyone could help me please?

For almost 2 weeks i have had an itchy left breast, if i scratch or put pressure on it, i get shooting pains going from my nipple, deeper. I keep waking up at night if I'm laying on my left side because if the pain. I have no other signs.

I am currently on day 5 of my cycle so that I be something to do with it but the worst I've ever had is a dull ache and it's normally in both breasts.

I'm worried about going to the doctors because I don't like talking about myself or being touched (I'm a sexual abuse survivor) and my anxiety is already sky high thinking about it.

Should I pluck up the courage and go to the docs or wait for other symptoms. Could it go away? Is there something else it could be that I'm not aware of?

I've read some stories on here and everyone is so brave and strong. Big hugs xxxx

    Steph, get yourself checked out by your doctor, if it's nothing then you will have peace of mind, if it's something then the sooner you can do something about it

    As Gamb said, it's best to get checked out by your doctor so that if anything you have peace of mind that there's nothing to worry about. Please keep us posted and let us know what your doctor says! We're thinking of you and sending good thoughts your way!

    Hi there as everyone suggested get it checked by a doctor ASAP. If it’s notjing you will have a peace of mind. If it’s IBC it needs to be checked as soon as possible and chemotherapy needs to be done fast. Ibc is always detected at stage three so things need to move fast. Also ultrasound and mammogram cannot detect it always. Ask for a MRI and skin punch biopsy. Again I wish it’s nothing.

    I have made an appointment for next Tues but they've given me a list of things to watch out for and book same day if I get any.

    I haven't had any other changes until this morning, I found a lump but it's not in a place I'd expect. It's above my left breast nearer the middle of my chest. I have one the other side but seems a lot smaller so maybe this is normal I don't know.

    Still itching like crazy and keep getting achy in my left arm too now. I have a cold though so probably that x

    Hi Steph, my heart goes out to you as a survivor of sexual abuse (I have had my share too in my childhood, although not as traumatizing as for many other people), I can imagine it must be very difficult but please don't allow this to stop you from taking the positive step that could save your health and possibly your life. Know that your breasts are not just some sexual instruments, they are there for other reasons :) so the doctor (regardless of gender) is going to touch them for the same goal as they would any non-sexualized part of your body: to make sure they are healthy.

    I am in the same boat with the lump, found it and went right away to the doctor. It's always, ALWAYS, better to know. if nothing, you get your peace of mind. If there's something, you have a plan and fight.


    I see that you already booked an appointment but I am sending this to make sure you don't "chicken out" and cancel or delay at the last minute. :-)
