Hi all,

I'm facing radiation in the new year and am researching my options. Does anyone have opinions/experiences around Sunnybrook or PM? If so, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Both world class. I had mine at SB. I would pick whichever is most convenient to get to as you will be going daily for 25-30 rounds

I had mine at Princess Margaret in 2015 and as rozem said, world class. I picked it as it was closer to my house and work and I could go right after work. You'll be going daily for around 6 weeks, so makes sense to pick the more convenient location.

Thanks both. PM is definitely much more convenient for me, but I have always thought of SB as being particularly strong in imaging. My tumour is left side and I already have lymphedema, which I expect rads to worsen. I'm very nervous about the radiation because of this. So in the absence of proton radiation in Canada, I would be interested in getting into a program where they use a wide variety of imaging to pinpoint more precisely where the radiation is needed. Both hospitals have limited info on their websites. I guess I'll see if my MO would refer me to someone at each place for a consult.

Mine was left-sided as well and after the first mapping CT they called me back to tell me that it's too close to the heart/lungs and we need to re-do the CT/mapping. I ended up getting IMRT radiation which is very precise and spares surrounding healthy tissues and also did it in breath-hold position which is with a scuba-diving like thingy and you're supposed to hold your breath in 20-second chunks. We did a test run before! They were really on top of things.
